Women's Ministry Meeting
We had a great time of fellowship and planning Monday night for our Women’s Ministry. The goal of the Women’s Ministry at Parkway Hills is to provide opportunities for creating community for the women of the church and to reflect on what the women of the church can offer to the Madison County community. Keep an eye out for the ways throughout the upcoming year that you can be involved. We know that none of us can make every event, nor will every event speak to you, but we hope you find ways through the Women’s Ministry offerings to connect with your church family as well as reach out in service. Finally, if you ever have an idea of something you would like the women of our church to experience, contact any of those you see pictured: Pam Smith, Megan Mawhorter, Chere Peel, Linda Irby, Kitty Johnson, Jessica Snyder, and Dawn Flowers. We hope to begin in August with a host-home gathering. Stay tuned.

We hope to see you a week from today for dinner on the grounds with a Shrimp Boil. Bring a chair Wednesday, July 19 and join us at 6 pm for dinner, fellowship, and fun. Waterslides will be on the lawn for the kids (and any adult ready and willing to jump in!) We have invited some of our visitors to join in the Garden room at 5:15 before the dinner for a sort of orientation to Parkway Hills, so if you see a new face at the Shrimp Boil, I hope you make an extra effort to say hello and get to know those who have been worshipping alongside you recently at Parkway Hills.
Finally, none of this happens without hands to volunteer so if you can aid Brandon Jones with getting the shrimp and vegetables ready, let him know by emailing him here and Jean Dunn can always use extra hands in the kitchen. Let Jean know you can help by emailing her here.

I give thanks for the ways so many have stepped up to the plate to aid with funding our new roof and cannot believe how far we have already come, but we are not done yet. To date, we’ve had about 30% participation from our request for our church family to prayerfully discern donating $300 to help fund the new roof. We know for some $300 is not a lot at all and for others, $300 sounds impossible. If $300 sounds out of reach, what about $100? If $100 is too big an ask, what about $50? If you have never given to aid in the mission and ministry of Parkway Hills, this would be a great first step in giving. Funding church buildings is never the exciting part of ministry, but it is a valuable part of how we are able to be a presence in our community. We truly do best what we do together, and every little bit along the way helps in getting us to our goal. We get closer every day, and I give thanks for all the gifts along the way.

Created By God is a UMC-endorsed curriculum teaching 5th and 6th graders and their families about faith and human sexuality. Parkway Hills UMC will be offering this course Friday, Aug. 11 and Saturday, Aug. 12 to our families and students. We will extend this opportunity to our rising 7th graders as well since this group missed Created By God due to Covid. The course will be $30 per student (this includes the meals, book, and materials for the course). If you are interested in your child taking part in this course, please fill out the registration form and bring it to Pastor Haven at church. We will also have printed forms available to fill out. The registration end date is set for August 1. Invite any friends that may be interested in taking this course as well. Click here to register.

Parkway Hills is a United Methodist congregation committed to being a place for everyone, so we want to pay particular attention to inviting members of our community who may have been affected by church disaffiliations or those who simply are looking for a safe place to worship. How can you help? Invite your friends to church, and share this welcome video that has been posted across Parkway Hills' Facebook and Instagram. Your voice matters in welcoming our community!

Youth Trip
Our youth ministry found sunny skies and clear water in Panama City Beach this past week, but we also experienced so much more. Students grew closer together while being honest and vulnerable with each other, opening up to what God was saying through student-led small group Bible study. Our middle schoolers had the opportunity to share with the wider group about how they can be there for us and vice versa. Our high schoolers cooked dinner for 100 people living in the Ark's transitional housing. We all put in a hot, sweaty morning of helping the Ark get some work done around their property. But most importantly, lives were changed forever, both in our group and in PCB.
Parkway Hills, this couldn't have happened without you. Your regular tithing and special giving made the trip possible. Your prayers and support for what God is doing in our youth ministry were unmistakably felt. On behalf of the entire group, thank you so very much. So what comes next? Carrying on with all we learned now that we're home! Next time you see one of our participants or our chaperones (Shawn Flowers, Mary Lee Reed, Laura Pickle, Jessica Snyder, and Elizabeth Davidson), ask them about their experience and ask God how you may be called to be involved in our students' lives. If you missed our youth-led worship service, you can always revisit it here. And please continue to pray for the beautiful growth God is calling forth here at Parkway Hills.
