Dear Friends,
As the holiday season approaches and the year comes to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our friends, family, and well-wishers. Your support has continued to move us forward and make important strides in addressing critical WASH challenges in human resource gaps, supporting WASH in vulnerable communities and health care facilities, and researching fluoride removal water treatment options.
Since its inception, through our WASH Capacity Building Program, a total of 307 students from 40 countries across Africa, Latin America, North America, and Asia Pacific have completed their Graduate Certificate in International WASH. Our students have conducted research on a broad range of WASH and environmental issues and presented their findings at conferences. The outcomes of their research have also informed and improved WASH programming.
In partnership with the World Vision and the Safe Water Network, DRI-CIWAS also organized a Market-Based Approaches to WASH Service Delivery (MBA) Professional Development Course in Kumasi, Ghana. This brings to a total of 99 WASH professionals, hydrogeology and engineering participants that have benefited from our professional development courses in since 2023.
The International Circuit Rider Program in Ghana, Malawi and Honduras have grown to reach more communities and Healthcare facilities through water system repairs, drilling new wells, mechanizing water systems, and water quality testing. In Ghana, we have also expanded our “Women entrepreneurs for WASH sustainability” program. This program strengthens women-led enterprises and promotes long-term water system sustainability by engaging them in water tariff collection.
DRI-CIWAS has also progressed in our research on fluoride removal technology with our second successful field-site development at Tamale, Ghana.
