We continue our “We Give Thanks for Parkway Hills” campaign. Sunday, James Renfroe shared about his Parkway Hills journey. You can watch his full message here.
My journey to Parkway Hills began over 10 years ago. My life just changed. You see, I was a young widower, with a beautiful young daughter, who had just gotten remarried only a short time earlier and I inherited a beautiful wife-- a loving wife, and a beautiful daughter. What we did learn upon our union was that my wife had deep, buried trauma issues, tragic issues, awful issues. She even shared it publicly before this church. Many of you saw that. I remember the dead silence. You see, the first time we attended Parkway Hills Bruce Case’s message was on God’s grace on all illnesses including mental. We were stuck. We never left.
Shortly after attending, my folks came here. During these seasons that I have been here, I have seen death, marriage, birth, all with the support of all of you. I give thanks for that. There are so many people that have been behind me, but I want to call out a special couple, Betsy and Horace Yarbrough. They prayed with me every week and for my family. I thank them. But thanks doesn’t end there. I’m thankful for Parkway Hills being there for my kids showing them the hands and feet of Christ. I’m thankful for the youth, the young people that were with my kids and for the older people that helped them. People like my dear friends Matthew Kirk, Shawn, Angie, and many more. I am thankful for Dawn who guides me every week to be a better Christian and to know what being a Christian means. I am thankful for a church who loved and supported my Dad, even picking him up off the floor when he fell during church. That’s what we do here. We pick you up off the floor. I am thankful for a church that supports my wife and her service dog, Casey. I’m thankful for the marriage of my oldest daughter and my son-in-law that took place here. Lastly, I am thankful for the ladies who hug my Mom every Sunday. I see you. I see every one of you. Jesus sees you. That’s why I go to Parkway Hills.
Please remember to be thankful for this church. Its programs. Its people. Yes, they cost money. Remember, giving your tithes and your offerings and even your extra gifts help fund that. Remember them in your 2026 budget. Don’t give until it hurts. Give, because this church stands and helps those who are hurt.

Commit to growing your faith as you journey through Advent and Christmas.
You are invited to take some time during the busyness of this season to rest in the presence of God. The worship center will be open from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday beginning Monday, December 1 through Wednesday, December 24. Prayer guides will be available. We hope you can find a day and time that will work for you.

Join your church family in preparing our hearts for Christmas this Advent by participating in a 3 week study using Walter Brueggemann's book, Names for the Messiah. In Isaiah 9:6, a divine utterance is given to us using four royal titles - Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. We will reflect on each title and how the people understood it then, how Jesus did or did not fulfill the title, and how Christians interpret Jesus as representative of that title. We will meet in the Open Doors room, Room 201 upstairs Ed Building, Thursday, December 4, 11, and 18 at 10:00 am.

Join the women of Parkway Hills for an ornament swap. Bring a sweet or salty snack to share and a wrapped ornament to swap on Wednesday, December 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Evans home located at 2024 Silver Lane, Madison. Text or email Marley Evans to let her know you are coming.
