Suburban West REALTOR, Bud Tyson Awarded Lifetime Achievement Award

Three PA REALTORS were honored by the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS (PAR) last week during a special awards ceremony in Harrisburg.

Harrison "Bud" Tyson of Brandt REALTORS, King of Prussia was given the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes an individual who has significantly contributed to the REALTOR organization. Bud has been an active REALTOR for 32 years. A member of Suburban West REALTORS Association, he served as its Chairman in 2006 and as a member of the Board of Directors for many years. He has been a member of PAR's Board of Directors since 1991 and has served on numerous state committees. "I'm honored and speechless. I've had a great time serving the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS and I'm proud to be a REALTOR" said Tyson.

In addition, Bette McTamney of East Norriton was named REALTOR of the Year and Larry Hatter of Camp Hill was presented with the REALTOR Active in Politics Award.

Congratulations to Bud, Bette and Larry on their well-deserved awards!

October 1st - All Members Will Receive Their 2015 Dues Invoice Exclusively Via Email

For the past 18 years, Suburban West has worked hard to provide the most value for your membership while not increasing expenses. Once again, the organization is able to maintain a level of local service at no increase to your dues.

2015 membership dues invoices will be sent to all members (except for those who have enrolled in the installment plan) exclusively via email on Wednesday, October 1st. Similar to last year's format, members have the option to submit their dues in a three-tiered billing system as shown below:

If paying in Cycle 1 (Oct 1 - Nov 15) $424
If paying in Cycle 2 (Nov 16 - Dec 31) $456
If paying in Cycle 3 (Jan 1 - Jan 31) $491

And have the option to submit their dues in one of four ways:

Online (on or after Oct 1): pay with a credit card, check card or telecheck through our secure online system
Mail (on or after Oct 1): send in a check to Suburban West REALTORS Association; 100 Deerfield Lane, Suite 240, Malvern PA 19355
Fax (on or after Oct 1): print out emailed invoice and fax in credit card information to 610-560-4801
Phone (on or after Oct 1): call 610-560-4800 to provide credit card information

Voting Begins Tomorrow (Sept 25th) for Board of Directors Elections, Proposed Bylaws Changes

On Thursday, September 25th, all REALTOR members of Suburban West REALTOR Association will have the opportunity to choose their volunteer leadership of the Association and decide on two proposed amendments to the organization's Bylaws. Members will receive two direct notes, one via email with links to voting online and a hard copy ballot in the mail that they can mail to the Association office.

Briefly, there are ten (10) REALTORS running for four (4) open positions on the Board of Directors. Click here to meet the candidates.

As for the proposed amendments to the Bylaws, the Association's leadership is recommending altering the current requirement that ballots for the Board of Directors elections and Bylaws changes will be mailed, and instead make the default delivery via electronic means (with the ability to request a hard copy mailing). Go to www.coeverywhere.com and click on the red pen to draw your first area. Save the area and see the posts. Please do note that not all posts are checked for mature content/comments.

Professionalism Tip: SWRA Accepting Requests to Serve on Grievance and Professional Standards

Peer review of conduct and professionalism is a cornerstone of the REALTOR family. The expectation that members will abide by a Code of Ethics is what sets REALTORS apart from non-member licensees. This review is conducted by members of the Grievance and Professional Standards committees.

Reminder About East Lansdowne Municipality Requirements

East Lansdowne's code officer would like to remind REALTORS that the borough does require a use and occupancy inspection before a property is sold. In addition, the borough requires a permit for "for sale" signs. Alliance staff has received reports that not all recent listings in the borough have complied with these requirements.

East Lansdowne is in the process of investigating sales that may have moved forward without inspection and use and occupancy certificate. The borough plans to notify those home owners who may have been involved in the transactions. To review East Lansdowne's requirements, visit the Alliance's Municipal Database. This reminder reflects a new policy in the borough to provide consistent enforcement of existing ordinances.

The ideal candidate should possess; excellent writing and communication skills, the ability to think critically and work independently, maintain high service delivery to customers, have a positive attitude, have the ability to multi-task, be very well organized, have great attention to detail and proficiency with technology.
