Spring is the season of change- a transitionary time to meet new conditions and turn over a new leaf. This seasonis extra special for the Bureau of Forestry as we have a new plan to guide our growth this spring and into the coming years.

In March, we announced the finalized version of the Pennsylvania DCNR Bureau of Forestry strategic plan, “Forests for All: A Plan for Pennsylvania’s Forests and People.” Forests for All is the culmination of hard work by many, including our staff, partners, and colleagues. This plan signals the beginning of a new chapter- it represents our commitment and responsibility to not only steward Pennsylvania’s forest resources, but to more deeply support the people who live, enjoy, and work in the forest.

The Bureau of Forestry is excited about the work ahead to strengthen our resource management foundation, grow our work around people and communities, and invest in our people and teams. Like the buds bursting and seedlings taking root in our forests, our bureau is growing and expanding our limbs into new territory. This growth will not happen overnight, and we cannot do this work alone- it will take all of us to conserve, steward and enhance Penn’s Woods.

2025 PA Invasive Replace-ive Program

May 20th has been declared PA Native Species Day. This is a day to celebrate the natural diversity of species that make “Penn’s Woods” unique. What better way to celebrate native species than to permanently remove an invasive tree or shrub and replace it with a native species?
Each Friday, the Bureau of Forestry provides a unique and informative article on a forest related topic.
