Prepare for your Texas A&M New Student Conference!

Important information for your upcoming NSC.

We hope you are excited for your Texas A&M University New Student Conference (NSC)! We have some helpful information as you prepare for your NSC on Tuesday, May 20 and Wednesday, May 21. Take a moment to review our pre-NSC checklist for information about resolving holds, placement exams, expectations, and what to bring to your NSC. Some of these actions must be completed several days prior to your NSC, so get started now!

Check-In:

Check-in is mandatory for all NSC participants and will take place on Tuesday, May 20, from 8:15-9:15 a.m. in Bethancourt Ballroom (room 2300) in the Memorial Student Center (MSC). Please use the entrance located on the corner of Joe Routt Blvd. Wheelchair access is available at this entrance.

Guest Registration:

Registering your family members in the Applicant Information System (AIS) will ensure that they get important updates and information prior to the NSC. One guest is included in the freshman NSC fee but others can be added for an additional cost. Visit tx.ag/NSCGuestReg.

Parking:

Your license plate will be your parking permit during your NSC. Not sure what car you'll have at your NSC? You can upload your license plate in the Transportation portal and update your plate at any time. This must be completed at least 3 business days prior to your NSC, otherwise you will not have an NSC parking permit. West Campus Garage is the most convenient NSC parking permit option. You can update your NSC parking permit by logging into your account with your NetID and password on transport.tamu.edu.

Schedule:

Day 1 programs will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:05 p.m. Students and guests will attend many sessions together as a family group, and will also split into two separate pathways during the day to attend sessions specific to them. You can find a Sample Schedule for Day 1 at tx.ag/SampleSchedule. Day 2 will begin at 8:30 a.m., and will include academic unit meetings, advising, and class registration. Specific details for Day 2 will be coordinated by your academic unit.

There are many action items to take care of before you attend your New Student Conference. Details on some of these items can be found below. Additionally, we recommend that you check your registration holds by searching "Registration Readiness" in your Howdy Portal. Taking care of these prior to arrival will ensure the smoothest NSC experience! Learn more about checking registration holds by visiting the Aggie One Stop website.

Complete Online Orientation

All incoming students are required to complete Online Orientation before their NSC. Online Orientation is a registration hold, and if you do not complete it, you cannot proceed with course registration at your NSC.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI)

Some incoming students are required to take the Texas Success Initiative before their NSC. Double check that you have submitted documentation or complete the assessment to determine your exemption status.

Submit Bacterial Meningitis Immunization Documents

Upload proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis to MedProctor. The meningitis deficiency hold will prevent you from checking in to your NSC and registering for classes, so it is imperative you fulfill this requirement as soon as possible prior to your NSC.

TO DO BEFORE YOUR NSC

Customize your schedule for Day 1 of your NSC by completing Session Selection through your AIS Checklist. Session Selection must be completed by Friday, May 16, at 11:59 p.m. Family members and guests will attend the sessions selected by the student.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When do I get My Aggie Card?

You will need to upload a current photo at least two weeks prior to your NSC at myaggiecard.tamu.edu/. Once your photo is approved and your card is ready to be picked up, you will receive an email. Photo Identification verification is mandatory when picking up your new Aggie Card. No exceptions will be made. All Aggie Cards must be picked up by the card holder by the end of your NSC. Extended office hours are in place to ensure you have adequate time to pick up your card. The Aggie Card office will be open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on NSC days. The Aggie Card Office is located in General Services Complex (GSC).

SIGN UP FOR CODE MAROON

Code Maroon is Texas A&M University's emergency notification system that gives the University the ability to communicate health and safety information in an emergency.
