We have noticed an increased number of phishing and spoofing emails come to us in recent months. We urge community members to be aware of these cyber attacks and think before you click!
Often hackers will visit the websites of an organization and impersonate employees. You may see an email that uses the name of someone at RVRMA, but when you click to reply, the email address may not look familiar. Remember, just because the heading displays a trusted name, it does not mean that the email address belongs to that person. If it seems Phishy, it’s probably Phishing!
|
| |
|
Another form of phishing will use fake hyperlinks to lure you into sharing personal information. Spoofing happens when someone impersonates a trusted contact or brand to access your personal information. We urge the community to stay sharp and remember you can always call to confirm the email is legitimate.
If you want more information about how to recognize, avoid and report phishing scams, please visit, Federal Trade Commission Consumer Advice - How to recognize and Avoid Phishing.

The EPA lists yard waste as the fifth largest category of municipal solid waste in the U.S., ranking it just behind food waste. It is estimated that 35.4 million tons of yard waste was created in 2018, the last time it was measured. But actions like "grasscycling" have dramatically cut down on yard waste across the country. Simply recycle your grass by allowing it to decompose into your soil and provide nutrients and natural fertilizer to existing grass. Lawn clippings contain vital nutrients for grass, including nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus. The decomposition of these clippings serves as a natural fertilizer and helps your grass preserve water and fend off weeds. By leaving behind mowed grass, you'll also be positively impacting the environment by using fewer plastic bags and other disposable tools often used in the cleanup process.
