Membership Update: 2023 GAFP Bylaws |
Pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Bylaws, entitled Amendments to Bylaws, such proposals shall be submitted to the Executive Director/Executive Vice President at least one hundred (100) days prior to any regular or special meeting of the Congress of Delegates, and notice shall be given by the Executive Director/Executive Vice President to all Academy members at least thirty (30) days prior to said meeting. Publication of proposed amendments in the official publication of the Academy shall be sufficient to constitute notice thereof to the members. | Read more

The New Georgia Law – SB 140 – Update on the Transgender Medical Care for Minors |
The Georgia Academy asked the law firm, Parker Hudson, a boutique health care-focused firm, to write a newsletter article to be distributed to our members, to help with questions arising from the enactment of Senate Bill 140 focusing on transgender care for minors. Over the last several weeks, a group of families filed a complaint in federal court to enjoin the law. The federal judge assigned to hear the complaint has allowed the law to be kept in place for now but has ordered an evidentiary hearing which could happen over the next several weeks (July-August). | Read more

GHFA Awards $30,000 in Second Cycle 2023 Community Health Grants To Support Local Health Projects |
The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance (GHFA) awarded Community Health Grant applicants $30,000 in second cycle 2023 grants. Grant awards were made to GAFP member-affiliated community organizations that support GHFA program priorities including underserved populations and projects that promote healthy practices.
