Top Three 2018 Highlights!

As 2018 comes to a close, we wanted to take a look back at another successful year. Here are NAM's three most significant accomplishments for 2018, which we achieved thanks to the support of our members.
  1. Launched the Medical Foundation of Nashville
  2. NAM has highest membership in 15 years: In September, we reached the milestone of 2,227 members!
  3. Started a leadership council for residents and students from Vanderbilt, Meharry and UTHSC
Thank you for helping us achieve such outstanding success in 2018. We look forward to everything we will accomplish together in 2019!

President's Reception, Wednesday, January 30

Mark your calendars and plan to join us for the 2019 President's Reception on Wednesday, January 30. Help us celebrate outgoing board members and those who graduated from medical school in 1969, and see the installation of your newest NAM officers. We will begin with a reception at Cabana at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the program.

Year-End Giving for Medical Foundation of Nashville

As the year draws to a close, please consider making a charitable gift to help support the Medical Foundation's essential mission of working toward a healthier Nashville by supporting health access, promoting healthy lifestyles, championing health and medical education and cooperating with other charitable entities. Whether you make your donation in honor of someone you care about, or in your name, the end of 2018 makes an ideal opportunity to back a vital cause.

Guide to 2019 Provider Stability Act

For nearly four years, NAM has worked with the TMA to push for passage of legislation to address problems physicians incurred due to business practices of health insurance carriers. In 2017, the Tennessee General Assembly finally addressed these issues by introducing the Provider Stability Act, which will take effect on January 1, 2019.

Learn more about the scope of this law and how it affects your fee schedules and reimbursement policies in this comprehensive guide.

Annual CME Requirement Reminder

Physicians who will renew their medical license in 2019 must complete 40 hours of CME required by the BME, including two hours of proper prescribing training, by Dec. 31, 2018.

TMA offers a proprietary, accredited proper prescribing course that meets all BME requirements for physicians and their prescribing staff. Learn more at tnmed.org/prescribing.

New Health Laws Take Effect January 1

The 2018 General Assembly passed several new health laws that become effective January 1, 2019, and may be of special concern among physicians, since they could require action or reporting. View complete details about these new laws.
