Three environmental engineering papers co-authored by Dr. Chiqian Zhang, assistant professor of civil engineering, have been published. The paper in Journal of Environmental Sciences focuses on advancing green technology for wastewater treatment. Mapping carbon sequestration in coastal wetlands was covered in Current Analytical Chemistry, and optimizing bioenergy production from crop waste is the topic in Renewable Energy. The studies contribute to the A-State program's mission of advancing sustainable engineering and environmental protection.

Bruce Looks at Virtual Reality Assessment |
Dr. Scott Bruce, professor of athletic training, is lead author of an article published in Brain Sciences. A product of the Veterans’ Suicide Prevention Project for which he is co-chair, the article reports on findings that veterans with a history of concussion and mental health illnesses demonstrated quantifiable perceptual motor impairments in virtual reality environments. These findings support virtual reality assessment as a feasible, sensitive tool for detecting subtle residual effects of concussion.

Folsom Discusses Student Work and AI |
Dr. Audrey Folsom, assistant professor of clinical laboratory sciences, and program director, made a presentation to the national meeting of the Clinical Laboratory Educators Conference in Bellevue, Wash. In Folsom’s session, she presented ideas on how fellow educators can create meaningful assignments that enhance student learning in the age of artificial intelligence. She also provided examples of how to modify current assignments to be more effective.

| Wimpy Discusses Election Issues |
Dr. Cameron Wimpy, associate professor of political science, department chair, and director of the Institute for Rural Initiatives, was on the podcast and webinar series “Election Science Office Hours,” hosted by the The Linde Center for Science, Society and Policy at Caltech. Wimpy discussed his ongoing work in rural election administration, methodological challenges in election science, and the major takeaways from the inaugural Arkansas Rural Election Administration Symposium he recently hosted in Little Rock.

Hester Addresses MRI Advancements |
Tyler Hester, instructor in radiography and MRI clinical coordinator, made presentations for the Arkansas Society of Radiologic Technologists (ArSRT) and Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology (ACERT) annual meetings in Little Rock and Las Vegas. Speaking on concerns regarding remote platforms in MRI, Hester covered current advancements in medical imaging and radiation therapy that are being employed in healthcare, including safety and practice standards.
