Dear Tulane Family Member,
|
|
|
Now that your first-year student is finishing their first two weeks of classes, they are facing the challenge of balancing their new academic load with increased life management tasks and new social and community opportunities. That is a lot of change in a short amount of time. The transition and adjustment can be exhilarating and daunting. Fortunately, we have understanding, support, and resources to help them. However, even remembering everything they learned in the summer online modules, during their Hullabaloo Hello orientation, or every day as new opportunities arise can be challenging. If you would like to learn more about Tulane resources that support your student's continuing transition to university life and how you can support strategically from home, please join our "Help Your Student Make a Strong Start" family webinar on September 2.
Other reminders and opportunities especially relevant at this stage are described in the articles below:

Upcoming Family Webinar: Sept. 2 - Help Your Student Make a Strong Start |
Register for our Help Your Student Make a Strong Start Family Webinar on Wed., Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. Central.
Leaders from our Case Management team will outline typical first-semester and first-year university adjustment issues. They will also describe the Tulane-specific dynamics our students navigate at the beginning of their Tulane journey. Our panelists will review campus resources to help your student get established academically and personally, develop healthy habits, find their "niche," and access extra support, if needed. We will describe which challenges are normal and growth-enhancing, as well as signs to watch for when students may need encouragement, support, or intervention. We'll focus on the adjustment and transition process for new first-year or transfer students.
The webinar video will be posted on the Tulane Family Programs website within a few days after the live broadcast.

NTC Undergrad Bundle Opt-Out Deadline is August 28 |
Fri., Aug. 28 is the last day to opt out of the NTC Undergrad Bundle with the Tulane Bookstore. If your student is considering opting out of the NTC Undergrad Bundle, the Tulane bookstore recommends that they first carefully calculate the potential savings on textbooks and course materials. Many students have opted out, then opted back in once they realized their level of savings. Campus Services intern Jaquelynn Martinez shares her story about opting back into the bundle after calculating her savings.
If your student decides to opt out and return their course materials bundle, they can follow the How to Opt Out instructions on the Course Materials: NTC Undergraduate Bundle website.

Aug. 30 Student Activities Expo |
If your student is seeking ways to get involved, meet other students, and pursue current or future interests, the Student Activities Expo is the best opportunity for students to explore and connect. Interested students may browse hundreds of information tables and meet members and leaders of various Recognized Student Organizations. This fall’s Activities Expo is scheduled Sun., Aug. 30, 2026, from Noon – 3 p.m. in the Reily Student Recreation Center.
Students can also explore organizations and activities via their WaveSync portal, which is both a directory of student organizations and university departments and an event calendar they can sort by date, specific organization, or activity type.

WavePass: Your Student's Ticket to Green Wave Gameday |
One of the best ways for new students to connect with campus, build school spirit, and create lasting memories is by attending Tulane Athletics events. Whether it's the excitement of football in Yulman Stadium, the energy of volleyball and basketball, or a spring afternoon cheering on Green Wave baseball, we encourage students to become part of the Tulane Athletics community and support their fellow classmates.
Through the new WavePass, all full-time undergraduate and graduate students receive complimentary admission to regular season home athletic events while space is available. The student section at all on-campus venues is general admission seating, creating a fun and spirited atmosphere where students can cheer on the Green Wave together.
