New vice president for institutional research, innovation, and strategy announced

Michelle V. Joyce has been appointed vice president for institutional research, innovation, and strategy (IRIS), effective August 10. Joyce succeeds David Bailey, who led IRIS from 2011 until his recent retirement.

More than $400,000 in grants awarded to community and campus partners for Arts Biennial programming

The Arts Initiative has awarded 38 grants to foster sustained growth in the arts through partner programming for the inaugural Notre Dame Arts Biennial, scheduled for January–June 2027. Awardees include 16 regional community partners, 19 campus units, and four Notre Dame Global locations.

Research provides insight into the potential origins of life

Saurja DasGupta, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, seeks to better understand the chemical origins of life by studying the structure, function, and evolution of RNA, an intermediary molecule that can both store genetic information and catalyze biochemical reaction.
