Dreams come true... Because of YOU!
Dreams come true... Because of YOU!
Dear Friend,
We are energized by the latest capital campaign milestone - 77 acres to serve as the future site of our campus to include a state-of-the-art mental health clinic, equine therapy center, therapeutic camp facilities, and a ropes course. This beautiful ranch is centrally located in the middle of the growing Hill Country counties served by the Phoenix Center, 2.4 miles from Baylor Scott & White Hospital on Hwy. 71.
Our realized dream was made possible because of the generosity of true heroes like you who believe in our mission to heal the whole child and family.  Heartfelt gratitude to each one of YOU, our treasured supporters, and our dedicated Board of Directors, Lindsay Plante, Patia Strickland, Susan Pierce, Ron Mitchell, Paul Brady, and Allan Garrett.
With your continued partnership and support, we are confident that our future site will be constructed within 5 years in order to meet the great need for mental health care in our growing community.
You are making a life-changing difference. Thank you.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sarah Garrett
Founder, Executive Director

Bill Rives and DJ brought their musical talents and lead holiday caroling for children and families, including the crowd favorite "Twelve Days of Christmas!"
The highlight was Santa Claus traveling from the North Pole to visit Phoenix Center children!  Thank you volunteers, First Capital Bank of Texas, and Bill Rives & DJ, for helping to make holiday wishes come true for 64 children and families!

Because of You... A Heart Healed
Michael*, age 7, had recurring nightmares, and significant challenges in school, ever since his dad's traumatic death a few years earlier. Due to the trauma he experienced and the symptoms that ensued, his mom called the Phoenix Center.
Michael began play therapy and his mom attended a Child-Parent Relationship Therapy parenting group, both evidenced-based treatments for children and families who have experienced trauma.
One afternoon, Michael's mom mentioned to their counselor that her 7 year-old son ripped a heart sticker in half and put it back on his chest earlier that day. "It's broken," he said to his mom. Michael's mom mentioned the broken heart sticker to their counselor just before their weekly therapeutic play session together using the Child-Parent Relationship Training techniques she had learned.
After their therapeutic play session, Michael leaped around the waiting room, his face beaming. "You look SO happy! Your body is showing it all over!," his counselor exclaimed.
Michael pointed to the sticker on his chest. The two pieces of the heart had been stuck back together. "It used to be broken," he said. "How does your heart feel now?" his counselor asked.
"It feels good." he said.  He beamed from ear to ear and looked up at his mom.

About Phoenix Center
Our mission is to inspire hope, health and healing by providing the highest level of care to every child and family through innovative trauma-informed therapy and education.
Phoenix Center is committed to meeting the need for high-quality, affordable mental health care for local children and families.
When children have experienced trauma or abuse, research shows early intervention is critical for long-term well-being and health. Through our services, children in need are able to access exemplary mental health services and ultimately thrive as individuals and families.
Our Programs
Phoenix Counseling: Research-based therapy services for children who have experienced trauma, including play therapy for children as young as 2 years-old
Children's Groups: Therapeutic children's groups which promote relaxation, coping, and social skills. We use innovative, trauma-informed methods such as music therapy, art therapy, yoga/mindfulness & animal-assisted therapy. Research shows these methods are developmentally appropriate and help a child's brain heal and grow.
Parenting Groups:  Research-based parenting programs utilize evidence-based curricula with documented results. Groups are all provided at no cost and include school-based programs for pregnant teens and teen parents.
Camp Phoenix: Therapeutic camp sessions at Candlelight Ranch, including equine therapy and our own innovative therapeutic camp curriculum, found nowhere else.
Community Outreach & Collaborations: Innovative Trauma-Informed Care Trainings & community partnerships to meet the complex needs of children and families who have experienced trauma.  Our partnership with MFISD allows us to serve more children in need today - before we construct our future facilities.
