Tee Off for a Purpose: The Annual Braves Open Returns This September
Nothing brings our community together quite like a day on the course. This fall, alumni, families, and supporters are invited to join us for one of our favorite traditions – the Braves Open.
Taking place on Thursday, September 17 at the Broadmoor Country Club, the tournament combines friendly golf competition with meaningful community impact. Beyond the afternoon of networking and school spirit, the outing plays a vital role in raising funds for initiatives like St. Ignatius Scholarship and the Legacy Scholarship.
Opportunities to Participate
Whether you plan to play or represent your organization, there are two primary ways to get involved:
- Become an Event Sponsor: Select from a variety of high-visibility sponsorship packages designed to showcase your brand to our engaged network while having a direct impact on our school community.
- Register to Play: Reserve your spot as an individual or bring a team to enjoy a full day of golf, connect with fellow alumni, and support the community.
Your involvement—whether as a player or a sponsor—makes a direct difference in providing transformative educational opportunities.

Deacon Fred Hackl ’75 recently experienced a profound milestone in his ministry at the historic Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, serving at the altar (seen below holding the Chalice) during a beautiful liturgy. The incredible moment came fifty-one years after his time at Brebeuf, where he learned the French language from Fr. Joe Casey—a skill that proved invaluable half a century later! As a firm believer that adventure seekers should always say "yes" to an invitation, Fred embraced this international calling. When he isn't serving abroad, Fred resides in Harbor Springs, Michigan, balancing his diaconate ministry with a highly successful career as an award-winning architect. The Brebeuf community is incredibly proud to see the professional and spiritual impact our alumni are making across the globe!

With the victory, they earned 600 ranking points to boost their national standing. Congratulations, Heather, on showcasing the Brebeuf competitive spirit!

Claudia Cummings ’88, Senior Vice President of the Philanthropy Roundtable, recently penned a column for the Indianapolis Business Journal celebrating Indiana's ranking as fifth in the nation for charitable giving and nonprofit innovation. As a lifelong Hoosier, Claudia highlighted the state's deep tradition of collaboration, private initiative, and community care. Her career and advocacy beautifully reflect the Jesuit mission of Brebeuf, demonstrating what it truly means to live as a person for others. We are incredibly proud to see Claudia leading national conversations that empower citizens to serve their local communities and strengthen the culture of giving.

Ben Karazim ’26 was recently featured in a prominent cover story for the Indianapolis Business Journal highlighting emerging forces in the local arts scene. The profile detailed Ben's, aka DJBK, remarkable ten-year journey in music, which began with lessons at Deckademics DJ and production school when he was just seven years old. Today, his impressive business resume includes serving as a resident DJ for both the Indiana Pacers and the Indiana Fever.
