An Activist's Lens: Donna Ferrato on Domestic ViolenceIn-person event on February 24th at 5:50 p.m.
**CONTENT WARNING** Please be advised that the content of Donna Ferrato's presentation may refer to and include imagery of nudity and domestic violence.
Donna Ferrato is an internationally acclaimed photojournalist, known best for her documentation of the hidden world of domestic violence captured in her book Living with the Enemy. Ferrato began using her photography to document domestic violence and its effects more than 20 years ago. Her work brings this issue to the forefront of society and presents it as a bold, undeniable problem.
Current Miami University Art Museum exhibitions feature five of her works in our collection.

Shabbat with Ashager Araro: Creator of @BlackJewishMagicIn-person event on February 25th at 5:00 p.m.
Araro was born on an Ethiopian roadside, while her parents escaped to Israel through Operation Solomon–a covert military mission that airlifted Ethiopian Jews to Israel in 1991. One of eight siblings, she grew up in central Israel and went on to pursue a career in diplomacy and social advocacy, visiting countries around the world to engage audiences as a proud black, Jewish, Israeli woman.
Active on social media, she uses a strong presence on Twitter/ Instagram to speak on crucial topics and to shed light on the diversity of the Jewish people. Alongside her fulfilling work in public diplomacy, Ashager built Battae, a center for Ethiopian Israeli heritage. Through educational programs, the center enables Israelis and members of the global Jewish community to explore the unique story and contributions of Ethiopian Jews in Israel.

Patient No More: People with Disabilities Securing Civil RightsTraveling Exhibition from Feb. 28th to March 16th
The entire Miami community and public is invited to explore how the occupiers developed support networks, influenced media coverage of the protests, and navigated the controversies of Section 504. A variety of accessibility features are embedded into the exhibition design. Above all, the display reminds visitors that disabilities are a source of creativity and innovation, not pity or tragedy.
The exhibit will be displayed in the Shriver Center the week of Feb. 28 and March 14, 2022. The exhibit will be displayed in the Armstrong Student Center the week of March 7, 2022. Weekly hours are Monday 12-4:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

The Wilks Institute is excited to host a Core Values workshop in Armstrong 2018 (Wilks office) so that students may learn about their personal values and how they intersect with leadership.

Born phrie: a journey of embodied memoryIn-person event on March 1st at 5 p.m.
Local folklorist, phrie, will share the story of her journey to self-liberation. Through a process coined "place-based identity reclamation," she uses the Ohio River Valley as the site of investigation for understanding world history and geography for a deeper connection with self and planet. phrie was the 2020 Artist in Residence at the Carnegie in Covington and a 2018 Next City Vanguard. The event will be held in Leonard Theater (PBD 121).

Braver Angels and Depolarizing WithinVirtual workshop on March 2nd at 5 p.m.
A free workshop to support you to become aware of your "inner polarizer" and learn methods for disagreeing without contempt and ridicule. This free workshop supports participants to build skills in:
- How to be more aware of their own "inner polarizer"
- How to be critical without demonizing, dismissing or stereotyping large swaths of the population
- Strategies for intervening constructively in social conversations with like-minded peers when these conversations veer into contempt and ridicule for people who hold other political views.

Braver Angels: Skills for Bridging the DivideVirtual workshop on April 2nd at 9 a.m.
There's a lot of stress these days among family members and friends who are divided politically, and the current polarized public conversation doesn't help. Please join us for a Braver Angels Skills for Bridging the Divide Workshop and learn skills for having respectful conversations that clarify differences, search for common ground, and affirm the importance of the relationship.
This free workshop does the following:
- Provides knowledge about what it takes to have constructive, non-polarizing conversations between people who disagree politically
- Gives you the chance to practice these skills to have these conversations
- Motivates you to have these conversations with people in your social network

Safe-Zone TrainingVirtual event on selected dates
Join the Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion, the Regional Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, ROSA, and PRIDE for a Safe Zone training. Safe Zone training is a three hour course designed to educate students, faculty, staff, and community members on LGBTQ identities and experiences. The goal is to create a community that is inclusive for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. Pre-registration is required.

PBS Training for Freedom DocumentaryWatch program on several dates
This documentary captures the transformational story of how idealistic college students and Black activists came together in Oxford, Ohio, to find their humanity and the common ground to fight as one in the freedom struggle that would define a nation and alter the course of history.
Premiering exclusively on PBS Western Reserve, TRAINING FOR FREEDOM weaves intimate personal stories from participants and local residents with critical historical analysis from noted historians and scholars. It explores how people from dramatically different worlds broke down barriers of race, class and gender to organize the most comprehensive campaign of the civil rights movement.
Showings repeat Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 2 AM; Sunday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 PM; and Monday, Feb. 21, at 5 PM.
