Nestled on the serene shores of Lake Fuschl in Austria, the newly reopened Schloss Fuschl has become a destination where art, history, and fine dining meet timeless elegance. Among its refined offerings, one experience stands out for tea lovers - an afternoon ritual at the Sisi Tee Salon, where guests are invited to slow down and savour botanical infusions in a setting as exquisite as the castle itself.
Here, turmeric Honeybush tea takes centre stage. Served alongside delicate pastries and the famed Schloss Fuschl torte, this South African infusion adds a warm, golden note to the European tea tradition.

A recent Real Simple article highlights what many South Africans already know - Rooibos is more than just a soothing, caffeine-free tea. Naturally rich in antioxidants, Rooibos helps combat cell damage and inflammation, supporting heart health, gut balance and overall wellbeing.
Experts note that both red and green Rooibos varieties are packed with polyphenols - with green Rooibos offering even higher antioxidant potential. These powerful compounds may help regulate blood sugar, improve cholesterol levels and protect the gut. Steeped for at least ten minutes, every cup of Rooibos delivers a calming, health-boosting ritual worth adding to your day.

A recent Independent feature highlights new research led by South African scientist Dr Mariska Lilly, revealing how Rooibos and Honeybush may play a powerful role in supporting gut health.
The study found that fermented Rooibos (red) was especially effective at reducing inflammation in gut cells, while unfermented Rooibos (green) helped strengthen the gut barrier. Honeybush, another South African herbal tea, is also being explored for similar antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, offering additional natural ways to support digestive health.
These findings shed light on how Rooibos and Honeybush, long valued for their health-promoting properties, could help maintain a healthier digestive system and overall wellbeing. As Dr Lilly notes, both teas are safe, natural, and accessible, making every cup a simple way to care for your gut and nourish your body from within.
