Deadline TODAY: RSVP for Spring Symposium
Please RSVP today if you plan to attend the 2023 Spring Symposium this Thursday, April 27 from 3 to 5:30 p.m., either in person at Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom or online. The Spring Symposium, requested by the Faculty Senate, is an opportunity for all PSU employees to come together to identify priorities and shared purpose regarding the university’s approach to long term financial planning. Attendees will receive a packet of information to read before the symposium. The event will be held in a small-group discussion format.
Meet the finalists for the VP of Research and Graduate Studies
PSU faculty and staff are invited to attend Open Forums to meet the finalists for the position of Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies. One of the four finalists visited on Friday and the remaining three finalists will visit campus over the next two weeks. Forum dates, times and locations can be found at the search committee’s web page, as well as CVs and feedback forms for each candidate.
Coffee with the Chief moves to Wednesdays
Campus Public Safety Chief Willie Halliburton is changing the time for his weekly “Coffee with the Chief” conversations — an opportunity to ask questions or share ideas about campus security — to better accommodate class schedules. Starting this week, Chief Halliburton will be available on Wednesdays at noon in the dining area next to the food court at Smith Memorial Student Union for “Coffee with the Chief.”

The new Mass Email Requirements, Guidelines and Best Practices are here! If you send out emails or newsletters to large groups of people, please read these guidelines for information about best practices and determining the best channel for your message. Acknowledgement of these guidelines will soon become part of the process for requesting lists of student emails through Cognos. These guidelines were created by a sub-group of the Student Communications Team in an effort to help reduce crowded inboxes for students who often complain that the university sends them too many emails.
Guide students to midterm resources at the Learning Center
Midterms are almost here! Set your students up for success by letting them know they can meet with an academic coach or peer tutor from the Learning Center to set goals and discuss study strategies. Learning Center services are free and open to all students. Faculty and staff can also submit a request for our ROADS to Success presentation series on topics such as motivation, time management, and study strategies to be presented in your classes.
Attend the Steinway Piano Series recital with Murray McLachlan
The annual Steinway Piano Series presents legendary Scottish educator, soloist and recording artist Murray McLachlan. McLachlan's recital is entitled “Masterworks for Keyboard: The Final Sonatas of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven with Chopin’s Ballades,” and will include new harmonic experimentation, increased emphasis on polyphony, and a showcase of drama and energetic zeal set against the most serene, transcendentally spiritual journey ever conceived for keyboard. The recital is Friday, April 28 at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Hall. Ticketsare $10 for PSU students, faculty, staff and seniors.
