Small Island Big Song Residency Brings Climate Activism Through Art to NC State

Small Island Big Song, a group of musicians from Island Nations across the Pacific and Indian Oceans, will spend this week in residence with NC State LIVE, and have various events planned across campus to help educate the NC State community about the impacts of climate change on the world’s oceans.

The 2024 Student Art Sale is this Friday in the Talley Student Union Ballroom. The in-person sale will run from 3-6:30 p.m. and a virtual sale will follow. Come support student creators from all NC State colleges and majors!

  • The Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge is open now, and Earth Fair is set for April 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Stafford Commons.
  • WKNC’s Local Lunch Live will run weekly for the next six weeks at The Corner on Centennial Campus. Bring your lunch or check out the food trucks.
  • April 13 is the last day for “The Art of John Mark Hall” and “Leading by Design” at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design.
  • A University Theatre production of “Ada and the Engine” will run through April 14 at Titmus Theatre, with 7:30 p.m. evening showings and 2 p.m. Sunday matinees.
  • Registration for summer crafts classes is now open for everyone!
  • The Crafts Center’s Annual Pottery Sale is set for April 16 from 2-10 p.m.
  • April is Alcohol and Other Drugs Awareness month, and several events and trainings are planned around campus.
  • Out of the Darkness, a campus walk to prevent suicide, is set for April 13.
  • Artist Chyela Rowe, a manager of Arts Therapies & Well-Being at CHI Memorial in Chattanooga, Tennesse, adjunct professor of research at Antioch University Seattle, will present “Arts & Wellness” at the University Honors Forum at 3 p.m. on Monday in Witherspoon Student Center.
  • Feed the Pack is looking for volunteers to help staff the pantry over the summer. Volunteers will help stock the pantry, check patrons out and prepare items for the week.
