BRR Portfolio & Resume Review 2023
2-4pm | Virtual or at BRR Architecture Overland Park, KS Office
BRR welcomes future architects and designers from across the country to sit down with BRR professionals to discuss their portfolios, either in-person at their Overland Park office, or virtually with BRR team members from across the U.S. They will offer feedback on portfolio structure, project summaries, resume content, and overall graphic style. They’re happy to offer insight into the ‘real world’ of architecture and design, so come with questions. Students in architecture and interior design programs are welcome, as well as educators.
Select your registration option based on if you plan to attend in person or virtually here. Please bring a completed (or nearly completed) version of your portfolio to get the most of your visit with the BRR teams.

This semester’s prompt: Mind the gap between the mirror and you. Feel the impassable emptiness between one footstep and the next. Unwieldy cords connect the mind & the hand, the will and what’s done. Intention spoils in the room outside of you. Who can see your imaginary aspect looped in by the orbit of your electrons? Banded attentions change the texture of the room. What slips through? A confused wall warps projection. The body refracting, redoubling, obstructing light. See how shadows splinter space. Keep the negatives in darkrooms. Or break the inside until it’s outside. Inhabit the lukewarm doldrums after the new. No direction in an open field stretching to forever with no finish. What can’t fit through the slats of a mask? Or is it a veil? How does performance change the physical? Write the ways of being lost in the demand for an end to becoming. Plant your attention in the untread corner of the room we’ve called a wasteland. Show us what’s there.

🌟 James Turrell: A Retrospective
This comprehensive volume illuminates the origins and motivations of James Turrell's incredibly diverse and exciting body of work--from his Mendota studio days to his monumental work-in-progress Roden Crater. Whether he's projecting shapes on a flat wall or into the corner of a gallery space, James Turrell is perpetually asking us to "Go inside and greet the light."
