The Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life is more than just a building! The LBC is a hub for campus life and a great place to hang out, get involved, and build community at Tulane. Involvement in organizations and activities outside of the classroom broadens your social circle, fosters new connections, and keeps you engaged with campus life.
Wondering how to get started? From joining student organizations to participating in campus programming, below are just some of the many ways to shape your journey at Tulane!

Recognized Student Organizations
|
Tulane has over 360 recognized student organizations on campus! We encourage you to attend the Student Activities Expo, held at the beginning of each semester, to learn more about these organizations from active members.
|
|
There’s something happening almost every day on campus! In addition to joining student organizations, you are encouraged to participate in signature programs, including Tulane Tuesday, LBC Movie Nights, and the JAUNT Series.

Are you interested in developing leadership skills, advocating for student needs on campus, and creating a more inclusive undergraduate community? If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, the Tulane Undergraduate Assembly (TUA) might be for you! TUA acts as the student governing body on campus and is made up of 34 students who are passionate about making change.
|
This Fall, TUA is holding its annual Elections and Selections Process to fill 7 seats for our First-Year Delegates and our 6 selection seats for 2024-2025, and any incoming First-Year undergraduate student at Tulane is encouraged to participate (only First-Year students are eligible to vote). For more information, check us out on Instagram, visit our website, or email us with any questions!

Rather than a melting pot, New Orleans is a delicious gumbo, served and shared around a table where everyone is welcome. One ingredient is never featured too heavily nor overpowers the meal entirely; rather, each harmonizes with the next to further heighten the taste. Much like a gumbo, New Orleans combines cultures, histories, and traditions into a rich and unique experience. Just as you might savor every bite of a perfectly seasoned gumbo, you'll cherish every moment in this vibrant city.
Whether this is your first time in New Orleans or you’ve lived here your whole life, there will be a parade of opportunities to find the people and places that make this city feel like home. So, take your seat at the table and come hungry for all that New Orleans has to offer!

The local language, something we refer to as termiNOLAgy, is just as spicy as the cuisine! Learn more about New Orleans and explore some local termiNOLAgy in the June New Student Module.

Hullabaloo Hello is a celebratory welcome to Tulane University beginning the moment you arrive to campus. This celebration encompasses move-in, orientation programming, signature events, and so much more. Throughout the experience, you will be introduced to the people, peers, and places committed to supporting your transition.
A signature Hullabaloo Hello event, Welcome to the Wave unites the incoming class for the first time as you discover what it means to be a member of the Tulane community.
Another hallmark of Hullabaloo Hello, Convocation brings together new students for an official welcome from the President of Tulane University, Michael Fitts. Following the welcome, you will join a second line led by a traditional New Orleans brass band. It’s the perfect start to an incredible college experience!
|
Outreach Tulane is a campus-wide day of service, coordinating over 1,000 volunteers at project sites throughout New Orleans. First-years work alongside upperclass peers, faculty, and staff to support the community you'll call home for the next four years.
Fittingly, many traditions center around food and festivals as New Orleans is one of the food capitals of the world. Crawfest is a student-run music and crawfish festival hosted on campus. This annual event is a top highlight for many Tulanians!

The Tulane University Marching Band (TUMB), also known as “The Sound of Uptown", performs at all Green Wave football games in Yulman Stadium, leading cheers and creating the atmosphere of Green Wave spirit on GameDay. The band includes instrumentalists, drum majors, feature twirler, color guard, and the Shockwave Dance Team. In the spring, the TUMB takes to St. Charles Avenue to perform in some of the biggest Mardi Gras parades, often performing for over 250,000 people each season.
