UO EVENTS
  • Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the Latinx/Hispanic student population at the Fall Baile from UO Muxeres on Saturday, Oct. 12, 8:00–11:00 p.m. in 123 Global Scholars Hall. Play games, paint, make friendship bracelets, and dance!
  • Take part in the annual tradition of celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day at the EMU Amphitheater with dances, drumming, and speeches on Monday, Oct. 14, at noon.
  • Gather your crew for Trivia in the EMU on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 6:00–7:30 p.m., or get grouped with a team. For every round your team wins, each member collects $5.
  • Applaud skilled actors as they transform the audience’s life experiences into a shared performance. Experience Belonging Through Playback Theatre will be Friday, Oct. 18, noon–1:30 p.m. in 175 Knight Law Center. This performance is free, but RSVPs are encouraged.
  • Make the Eugene-Springfield community a better place by lending a hand during the Fall Day of Service on Saturday, Oct. 19, 10:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Registration is required.
  • Get outside and get moving for the Run, Walk and Roll with The Duck on Friday, Oct. 25, noon–1:00 p.m. This free 5K starts at Riverfront Field. Registration is recommended.
CAREER READINESS WEEK
Fall Career Readiness Week is coming up. Begin exploring what you want for your future, make connections, and build the confidence to chase after your goals.
  • Get feedback on your résumé while enjoying free hot chocolate and cookies at the Résumé Extravaganza on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. in Tykeson Hall Commons.
  • Meet on-campus and local employers ready to hire at the Part-Time Job and Work-Study Fair on Thursday, Oct. 17, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. in the EMU Crater Lake Rooms.
  • Visit the Fall Career and Internship Expo to talk to recruiters and discover new opportunities on Thursday, Oct. 24, noon–4:00 p.m. in the EMU Ballroom.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Duck ID Account Management will be down for maintenance on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 6:00–9:00 p.m. Password resets won’t be possible during this time.
  • ESPN College GameDay is coming to campus for a broadcast on Saturday, Oct. 12, before the football game. Filming will be 6:00–9:00 a.m. and free to attend. Setup began Wednesday, Oct. 9, on the Memorial Quad and surrounding areas.
  • Embody the spirit of higher education and continuous learning through engaged and thoughtful citizenship. Discover the many ways you can learn, act, and advocate as a Duck.
  • Learn skills you’ll use for the rest of your life during the four-day LeaderShape Institute. You'll take risks, discover hidden talents, and become a leader. The institute will be Dec. 15–18, and the application deadline is end of day Wednesday, Oct. 30.
  • You can also join the year-long program Emerging Leadership Project. You’ll be a part of a small cohort of students coming together weekly, and you’ll have opportunities to do service with local organizations. Apply by Friday, Nov. 1.
  • Ducks look out for each other. Be aware of your surroundings, watch out for your friends, and report any crimes. Friday night at Autzen Stadium, a man, 30-40 years old, reportedly intentionally inappropriately touched a student while in line for a food truck. If you have any information, please contact UOPD at 541-346-2919.
  • Please remember to party responsibly and enjoy the game.
TALKS AND WORKSHOPS
  • Interested in pursuing an international internship for summer 2025? Attend the GlobalWorks Info Session to learn about the program and hear from program alumni on Tuesday, Oct. 15, noon–1 p.m. at the Mills International Center (M102 in the EMU).
  • Find out how Oregon is preparing for the Big One. Get your earthquake questions answered by expert seismologists, researchers, and emergency managers at the free Great ShakeOut Panel on Thursday, Oct. 17, 6:30–8:00 p.m. at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
  • Men are invited to join Varsity Practice, a six-week group (Wednesdays, 3:30–5:00 p.m.) that teaches and exercises skills for healthy relationships to themselves and others. Complete the interest form if you would like to join.
  • The Collegiate Recovery Center helps students meet their substance use goals and provides support for those who are sober or in recovery. Visit their Instagram @uoregoncrc and LinkTree to see the meeting schedule or book a consultation with a professional. 
  • Eating Disorder Awareness and Support holds their peer-led support group on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in 331 EMU. These groups are for students struggling with food and body, trying to support a loved one, or just wanting to share their opinions on food and body in college.

Each year the UO holds a tribal flag ceremony in the EMU Amphitheater to mark Indigenous Peoples Day and honor Oregon's nine federally recognized tribes and all Indigenous peoples who call Oregon home.
