Successful Virtual Trivia Night Event

Thank you to everyone who attended our first virtual trivia night event last Friday, October 30. We had 145 individuals logged in to play on 42 different teams!
Tom P. from Albemarle High School was the highest-scoring individual while the Axis of C'ville was the highest-scoring team.
Special thanks to our game designer Debra for creating such a fun and engaging night for everyone!

Show Us Your Sticker Campaign

Tutors, students, and staff proudly showed off their "I Voted" stickers leading up to Election Day. We are thankful for all of our tutors who helped their students register and vote in this year's election. Eighty-four of our students obtained their US Citizenship since the 2016 election and were newly eligible to vote this year!

Donate and Support LVCA this Season

There are several ways you can support LVCA this holiday season. Donations ensure we remain fiscally sound going into the new year. This year, your support is even more vital as we work hard to reformat all of our programs and services in light of the pandemic. Here's how you can help:
  • Purchase a fleece jacket - a proceed of the sales is considered a donation to LVCA, and you'll help promote us everywhere you go this winter!
  • GivingTuesday - This annual tradition is scheduled for December 1st this year. GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. (Feel free to donate early!)
  • AmazonSmile - If you're shopping on Amazon, please take a moment to select us as your designated charity through the AmazonSmile program. Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to LVCA with no fees or additional cost to you.

Heather Completes Certification Program

Our Community Engagement Specialist, Heather Tebbenhoff, is now a Certified Volunteer Administrator!
The Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA) is an international professional credential to recognize practitioners in the field of volunteer engagement who meet specified standards as measured through demonstrated professional and academic experience, a commitment to professional ethics, and a certification exam.
We are proud to recognize Heather for this achievement and for her commitment to our volunteers.
New Tutor Promotion Video
We were excited to share this new tutor promotion video with all of our supporters last Friday night. Thank you to tutors Robierre, Bill, Talia, Jennifer, Menna, and Russell for sharing their tutoring experience. We are also so grateful for the work of Erik Duda, volunteer videographer extraordinaire, for this project. Please check it out and share!
