Sara Schaefer exits as "First News Weekend" news anchor and reporter at Nexstar's CBS affiliate WANE-TV (Channel 15, Fort Wayne). Ms. Schaefer joined "NewsChannel 15" in May 2016, after working at what was then their sister TV station: CBS affiliate/WTHI-TV (Channel 10, Terre Haute).
Central
Nexstar's CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis) unveils their new $1.5 million local news set. The 3,100 square foot set includes 12 LED walls. Since losing the CBS affiliation in 2015, WISH-TV increased local news and programming to nearly 70 hours each week. The WISH-TV website has more details and photos.
Trinity Broadcasting's WCLJ-TV (Channel 42, Bloomington) shuts their signal down and begins channel sharing with ION Media's WIPX-TV (Channel 63, Bloomington). WCLJ and WIPX now share RF channel 27, which will move to RF 28 in the upcoming television repack. The shared RF channel contains Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) from WCLJ, along with ION TV (WIPX) and 5 additional digital subchannels. The former WCLJ tower and the current WIPX tower both reside on the Trafalgar tower farm, southwest of Franklin. Will the above channel lineup remain, or will some subchannels fade away? We'll let you know.
