Board Decision on Starting School in Distance Learning

August 18, 2020

Roseville Area Schools to start the school year in distance learning

This evening the school board voted to approve a plan to begin the school year in distance learning for all grades. This is a change to plans announced at the end of July and reflects concerns for the health and safety of our students, families and staff. Please know, we want nothing more than to bring our students safely back to school in-person. We are committed to doing so when it is safe and will continue to receive input from stakeholders including families, staff and students, as well as consulting with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), the Minnesota Department of Education and county and local health officials.
This document outlines our plans for the start of the school year, including how Distance Learning 2.0 will differ from the crisis-response distance learning students and families experienced in the spring. This decision will be revisited monthly.
This plan will be updated with additional details about what blended learning will look like in our schools if the decision is made to change scenarios.
Sincerely,
Dr. Aldo Sicoli
Superintendent
