Northeast
Federated Media’s Sports/WKJG (1380am, Fort Wayne) and translator W265CY (100.9fm, Fort Wayne) adds the Caleb and Kenny morning show (7am until 9am weekdays) featuring PD Caleb Hatch and Justin Kenney.
Gray Television has both the ABC and NBC affiliations (among others) in Fort Wayne, with ABC on WPTA-TV (Channel 21.1, Fort Wayne) and NBC on WPTA-TV (Channel 21.2).
Meteorologist Brian Barrett joins the 21-Alive weather team. Mr. Barrett last forecasted for KVRR-TV in Fargo, North Dakota. Reporter Kara Porzuczek joins 21 Alive from being a reporter at Allen Media Broadcasting's CBS affiliate/WLFI-TV (Channel 18, Lafayette).
Where Are They Now? Former WPTA-TV weekend anchor and reporter Louie Tran joins as a reporter for KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington.
Northcentral
The Power Foundation CP for Class A WSSZ (101.7fm, Kokomo) changes call letters to WCKO. The Power Foundation announced they will sell that CP for $30,000 to Educational Media Foundation.
Sports Director Matt Loch exits Gray Television's NBC affiliate/WNDU-TV (Channel 16, South Bend). Mr. Loch joined WNDU in late 2021. Julianne Pelusi fills the Sports Director role, as she recently arrived at WNDU-TV from a sports anchor and reporter role at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York.
Where Are They Now? Former WBND-TV (ABC57) anchor and investigative reporter Rich Bodee is now a writer for NewsNation.
Northwest
Neuhoff Media announced today they will sell their Lafayette stations for $5.3 million to Saga Communications. Their cluster includes Rock/WKHY (93.5fm, Lafayette), Classic Hits/WASK-FM (98.7fm, Battle Ground), CHR/WXXB (102.9fm, Delphi), Country/WKOA (105.3fm, Lafayette), and Sports/WASK (1450am, Lafayette), also heard on and FM translator W269DJ (101.7fm, Lafayette). In 2016, Neuhoff bought this cluster for $8 million from Gray Television Group, after they purchased it from Schurz Communications. Finally, Kalil & Co. was the exclusive broker for this Neuhoff sale to Saga.
Eastcentral
Hoosier AM/FM changed from ESPN to CBS Sports Radio for their Sports formatted WMRI (860am, Marion) and WIOU (1350am, Kokomo). The stations continue their live high school and college sports.
Central
Cumulus’ Hot AC/WZPL (99.5fm, Greenfield) afternoon host Ryan Crash moves from nights to mornings at sister AC/WNTR (107.9fm, Indianapolis), while remaining in afternoons at WZPL.
Dominic Miranda becomes a sports anchor and reporter for TEGNA's NBC affiliate/WTHR-TV (Channel 13, Indianapolis). Mr. Miranda previously worked for WTHI-TV (Channel 10, Terre Haute) and most recently for WCTV-TV in Tallahassee, Florida.
Cumulus’ Country/WFMS (95.5fm, Fishers) welcomes ‘Taylor’ (Jill Testerman) as cluster Digital Content Coordinator and middays at WFMS. Ms. Taylor joins WFMS after programming and middays at KKDM in Des Moines, Iowa.
Where Are They Now? Former WXIN-TV/WTTV-TV VP/GM Rick Rogala will become president and GM of WBNS in Columbus, Ohio, along with WBNS(AM) and FM and ONN Radio (The Ohio News Network).
Southwest
Vincent Steele began WVJS (1420am, Owensboro, Kentucky) in late 1947. As the family business grew, his daughter Ruth became treasurer of the organization. The next year, WSTO (96.1fm, Owensboro, Kentucky) also signed on. Ruth Steele Reed passed away earlier this year at age 89. She worked at WVJS/WSTO until they sold the stations and other entities in 1983. Here’s the complete obituary.
Former Evansville broadcaster Mark Miller died at age 71. Mr. Miller graduated from the University of Evansville and while there, worked at both WSON (860am, Henderson, Kentucky), and for WKDQ (99.5fm, Henderson, Kentucky). After graduation, he joined WTVW-TV (Channel 7, Evansville) as a weekend reporter, moving up to anchor, sports director, and chief photographer. Then, it was off to WNIN-TV (Channel 9, Evansville) where he was Promotion Manager. He also later hosted mornings on WIKY-FM alongside Brenda Whitney. Here’s the complete obituary:
