Produce Distributions
with the Locker Project

Presumpscot Elementary School
Wednesday, September, 4:00-5:30pm

Presumpscot Elementary School
Wednesday, September 19th, 4:00-5:30pm

Memorial Middle School
Friday, September 21st, 1:30-3:00pm

The Locker Project manages food pantries in schools, providing food for children who are food-insecure to take food home with them. Join the Locker Project in December to help distribute fresh produce and non-perishable food items.

Volunteers help arrange produce and groceries on tables, then assist students and parents with bagging the food up to take home. You will be a welcoming presence, making sure people know they are invited to take food. Everyone is invited to bring food home with them. This a great way to de-stigmatize free food distributions, particularly in the case of fresh food that would otherwise get wasted.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program
Brunswick, ME

Hungry neighbors in our community need your help to feed their families! Mid Coast Hunger Prevention has a number of initiatives that work to address food insecurity and volunteers place a vital role in fulfilling their mission by preparing meals, distributing groceries, picking up donated food and a variety of other tasks.

This month, they MCHPP could use volunteers to help pickup donations, and afternoon volunteers for the food bank & food pantry.

SPECIAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Gleaning Opportunities!
Gleaning is the act of recovering food from local farms that would otherwise not be harvested and redirecting this would-be-wasted food to food security organizations. The movement is growing in Maine as local organizations and community members collaborate organize the efforts.
Garbage to Garden volunteers will receive credit for any gleaning opportunities promoted through Maine Gleaning Network and its member organizations.
Bath Farmers Market
Every Saturday
Bagging Compost!
Volunteers who help us bag, tie & stack fill, tie and stack compost at our shop will earn a free month of service.
All shifts, including weekends, will be scheduled by emailing with a preferred day and time. We can accomodate volunteers at the shop most days of the week, it is a great chance to get involved if you are having a hard time finding other opportunities that fit your schedule.
This is a medium-level physical activity that requires lifting, bending, and shoveling and usually takes 1-2 hours. Wear boots and bring layers!
Looking ahead to October...
