Reduce Your Illinois Income Taxes! In 2018, 53 Fenwick High School students were granted over $600,000 in tuition grants – and Fenwick supporters reduced their IL state income tax collectively by over $500,000! – through the Illinois State Tax Credit Scholarship Program (Invest in Kids Act). There are still tax credits available for 2018 and this program will continue through 2019! If you expect to have an Illinois state income tax liability in 2018, there is still time to take advantage of this program – and help deserving Fenwick students! – and receive a 75% IL state income tax credit on every dollar contributed to a scholarship granting organization (SGO). As you look forward to 2019, you can secure your tax credits as early as January 2 and have up to 60 days to make your contribution to an SGO, which will benefit Fenwick students in the 2019-20 school year. Please see the following link for full detail on how to apply for the tax credits: www.fenwickfriars.com/assets/1/6/SGO_Process.pdf Fenwick worked successfully with two SGOs in 2018 – Big Shoulders Fund and Empower Illinois – and we encourage you to consider using either of these and/or the Children’s Tuition Fund as SGOs for Region 1 (Cook County, where Fenwick is located) to direct your contribution to Fenwick. Please see contact information for these SGOs below: https://empowerillinois.org/ https://www.bigshouldersfundsgo.org/ https://childrenstuitionfund.org/ New for 2019, the following has been added to the Invest in Kids Act: Without the consent of a taxpayer, an SGO may not disclose to any person the contents of a taxpayer’s contribution authorization certificate, the amount of contributions made to the SGO by the taxpayer, and the contents of a certificate of receipt issued to the taxpayer by the SGO. As a result, in order for FHS to properly acknowledge your contribution, we ask you to please inform the SGO you choose that you permit them to share that information with FHS.  This will greatly aid FHS in its record-keeping and stewardship of our supporters.  Thank you. 2018 Fenwick IL state tax credit scholarship program facts: - Nearly 200 Fenwick families applied for grants through SGOs - Over $600,000 was granted to 53 Fenwick students for the 2018-19 school year and over $50k will carry over to the 2019-20 school year.
