| Sciences Students Showcase Research at InnovateUNO |
Sciences students and their faculty mentors had another very successful showing at InnovateUNO, UNO’s annual research symposium.
Research posters were presented by 22 undergraduate students and 5 graduate students. Four undergraduate and four graduate students gave oral presentations.

| Roberto Refinetti, professor and chair of the department of psychology, led a session entitled "Data in Biology" at the biennial meeting of the Philosophy of Science Association. The meeting was held in New Orleans from November 14-17.

| ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Dr. James W. Callaghan, '83 & '86
|
Dr. James Callaghan was honored by the College of Sciences at the 2024 Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumni Gala. Dr. Callaghan is the chief medical officer at West Jefferson Medical Center and a managing partner of West Jefferson Emergency Physicians Group in Marrero. He has practiced emergency medicine for more than 30 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1983 and a master’s in biology in 1986, both from UNO.
