Dear Hebrew College community,

I am writing to you from Jerusalem, on this tragic day in Israel, as the bodies of Shiri, Ariel & Kfir Bibas and Oded Lifshitz return home for burial.

For months, we have held onto hope for their safe return. The weight of that hope now gives way to the heaviness of deep mourning.

Our prayers are with their families and with all the people of Israel. May we find comfort as we continue to pray for the safe and swift return of all the remaining hostages.

With unceasing prayers for true healing and peace in our war-torn world,

Seeing Through Our Eyes: Photo Exhibition & Celebration of 2024-2025 Dignity Project Fellows

Celebrate Hebrew College's 2024-2025 Dignity Project Fellows on February 27 at Hebrew College in Newton, MA. Fellows will share their photo exhibit "Seeing Through Our Eyes: Belief and Belonging in Boston.” The photos are a reflection from their interreligious and cross-cultural journey together. Each year, Hebrew College's Miller Center selects outstanding high school students from Greater Boston and from different spiritual and ethical backgrounds. The Fellows serve as interreligious and cross-cultural leaders, with the capacity to engage the diversity of our city (and broader society) with thoughtfulness, skill, and care.

Do You Need a Reminder?

To move beyond the overwhelm of terrifying headlines, we take one step at a time. We need an ot or a zikaron, a grounding reminder of our purpose and values. What small reminder might help us move toward action? When politicians and lawmakers are claiming that we do not matter, what practice can re-ground us in the inherent holiness of our being? When they are trying to convince us that a whole group of other people does not matter, what reminder can connect us to the Divine stamp that shaped us all?

Bonim Beyechad Spotlight: Connections, Collaboration & Community

We recently spoke to Alisha Sawyer, Religious School Director at Mount Zion Temple in St. Paul Minnesota, about her experience supervising Hebrew College Bonim Beyechad Fellows. "I think Hebrew College's Bonim Beyechad Program is opening up perspectives for my teachers and giving them access to more and different resources," she said. "This training program provides a level of professionalism and connections that will continue to serve these teachers, and that we may not be able to give them within our community." Hebrew College’s Bonim Beyachad program is an online, 10-month, national cohort-based fellowship to support adults new to teaching in part-time and supplemental Jewish educational settings.

Rabbi Or Rose Reflects on Speaking at the National Cathedral

Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership Director Rabbi Or Rose (center) participated in an interfaith service earlier this month at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, along with Hebrew College Visiting Faculty member Rev. Rob Schenck (right) and Miller Center Senior Fellow Simran Singh Stuelpnagel (left). Rabbi Rose wrote about the event, organized by the International Torch for Peace Foundation, on our blog: "With so much division, acrimony, and violence in our country and throughout the world, this gathering felt like a brief reprieve and an opportunity to renew my commitment to pluralism."
