Annual Repatriation Conference in Louisiana this Year

This year marked the 10th annual repatriation conference organized by the Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA). The conference was hosted by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe’s Paragon Resort in Marksville, Louisiana. The Peabody Institute of Archaeology was one of several co-sponsors, dedicated to learning and sharing our work in repatriation.

The Making of a Student Exhibit

The Peabody Institute is currently host to the exhibit “Indigenous (Mis)representations on American Numismatic Objects,” displaying items from the History and Social Science department, the personal collections of Donny Slater, and the hard work of the students in his class HSS507.

Mount Up, follow up.

In January our Collections Coordinator, John Bergman-McCool, wrote about a student volunteer project aimed at improving housing for moccasins that we steward at the Peabody. The purpose of the project is to give moccasins at the Peabody more space and internal support to maintain their shape. Read on for more about the final design!

Monthly meeting of the Northeast Gene Winter Chapter of the Massachusetts Archaeological Society held at the Robert S. Peabody Institute of Archaeology at 175 Main Street in Andover, MA. The event is open and free to the public.
