Karen Folman (she/her, they/them) - Clinical Intern
Karen is a practicum student and a Pre-licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Adler Graduate School. Karen views the healing process as involving the whole self. Karen's therapeutic style is non-judgmental, empathetic, and humorous.
Karen has a background working with people with eating disorders and LGBTQ+ people using CBT and DBT. She additionally has experience working with BIPOC youth in mind-body medicine facilitation. Karen's theoretical orientation is a mix of Adlerian, multicultural, feminist, and relational cultural therapy. Karen's goal is to empower and walk with clients as they grow, discover strengths and move toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
Karen is a social justice advocate and believes in equal access and gender-affirmative care for mental health and wellness. Karen strives to be actively anti-racist and will continue to be aware of the intersectionality of privilege and oppression as a White, Cisgender, Woman, and Lesbian. In her free time, Karen enjoys writing songs, photography, paddle boarding, hiking, and pickleball.
