Like many of you, I have found myself riveted to the news coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Certainly, as an historian, I find myself spending much time thinking about the deep historical roots of the conflict and considering the knotted tangle of circumstances and cultural tensions that have led to this horrific moment.
Every year the University of Michigan-Dearborn has an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate faculty for outstanding performance in teaching, service, and research.
Congratulations to six CASL faculty members who will be receiving the university's "distinguished awards" at a reception in May!

Alumni Speaker Series
Join CASL Professor Deborah Smith Pollard for a look at how she came to study her passion, gospel music.  Dr. Smith Pollard shares how if you study what you love, you too will undoubtedly learn about "it" and so much more, all of which you can pass on to others. Her presentation is followed by a conversation moderated by UM-Dearborn alumna Arlisa Robinson '18, B.A in Psychology.

Your Gifts to CASL Foster Student Success
Your gifts to the CASL Annual Fund make it possible for CASL students to participate in activities such as internships and research that enhance their education. Thank you!  Your support is especially important for CASL students who could not otherwise afford to participate in unpaid internships and/or research. These experiences can be transformative for CASL students and also prepare them for success upon graduation.
In keeping with this year's focus on student research, check out the video below by CASL psychology alumna, Megan E. Doty.   Megan's research presentation, entitled "Veterans' Adjustment to Academia and the Workplace Post-Deployment," describes how psychological and physiological health issues may disrupt veterans' ability to thrive in academic and work environments.
