Suburban West Member Joseph McGettigan Re-Appointed to the Real Estate Commission

Suburban West member and licensed real estate broker for 49 years, Joseph McGettigan, has been re-appointed to the Commission. Joe will be serving his fourth, five-year term. He was appointed to the Commission in 1994 and has served as Chair of the Commission in 2004, 2007, 2011 and 2016. The Association extends our appreciation for his years of service and offers its congratulations to Joe McGettigan for his re-appointment! 

August Schedule Released for Mandatory SWRA Membership Course

The REALTOR Code of Ethics requires cooperation among REALTORS except when cooperation is not in the client's best interest. In Putting Clients First: Cooperation Compensation and Procuring Cause, instructors will engage students in work that will address the ethical and legal issues as well as best practices involving some of the most challenging issues raised by the cooperation vs client best interest dynamic. 
Putting Clients First classes are now scheduled through August. The class will continue to be offered frequently through December 2018. All Suburban West REALTOR members must take this 3.5 hour class by December 31st, 2018. To register, please call Suburban West by dialing 610-560-4800.

Join us on August 1st (10:00am-11:30) for Starbucks Morning: Getting Started With RPR to learn how to best leverage the tools available with local RPR trainer and REALTOR Angela Morsa. Note that this program will be held in classroom and as a webinar.

New Report Identifies Chester, Delaware and Montgomery County Main Employers 

The boom in the health industry and the expanding education workforce in Philadelphia is having a positive impact on the suburbs, according to a report in the Philadelphia Business Journal. According to a study from Data USA (based on 2015 Census data), these industries are the main employers in Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties:
  • Chester County - with 61,062 employees between them, Educational Services and Health Care account for nearly a quater of the county's workforce. Overall, employment in Chester County has grown by a rate of 1.29% since 2014. The median household income is $90,503.
  • Delaware County - with 85,623 employees between them, Education Services and Health Care employ nearly a 1/3 of the county's workforce. Overall employment in Delco has increased at a rate of 4.71% since 2014. The median household income is $67,584.
  • Montgomery County - with 103,786 employees between them, Education Services and Health Care account for nearly a quarter of the county's workforce. Overall, employment in Montgomery County has decreased by a rate of 1.09% since 2014. The median household income is $83,254.
