Research Opportunities at the National Institute of Standards and Technology |
GW has entered a five-year cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that will strengthen the scientific workforce while providing opportunities for GW and its partners. The GW Professional Research Experience Program (GWU-PREP) provides valuable laboratory experience and financial assistance to undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and faculty that wish to collaborate with NIST scientists.

Office of Lab Safety Becomes Office of Research Safety |
The Office of Laboratory Safety has changed its name to the Office of Research Safety (ORS) to better align with its mission and the services it provides to the GW community. ORS provides training, consultation and support services in the areas of biosafety, radiation safety, laser safety and animal welfare. ORS also provides administrative support to the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program is Accepting Applications |
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition is open, featuring over 400 awards offered in more than 135 countries. Fulbright U.S. Scholar Awards allow academics, professionals and artists who are U.S. citizens to teach, research, and carry out professional projects abroad.
Fulbright Scholars build their skills and connections, gain valuable international insights, and return home to share their experiences with their students and colleagues. The application deadline is Friday, September 15, 2023.

Launched in Summer 2022, the Climate Health Institute (CHI) Research Fellows program is a semester-long, paid opportunity open to all current GW students. CHI funds 1-2 students per semester to engage in interdisciplinary research projects on topics at the nexus of climate change and human health.

The National Institutes of Health Small Business Transition Grant application period is now open, providing a valuable opportunity for early-career academic scientists to transition into entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate for this small business transition grant is a postdoctoral researcher who participated in technology discovery during their academic work and is now ready to move to a small business with the help of some key mentors and advisors.

Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. The course is aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, advanced undergraduates, researchers, and staff of GW and its affiliated institutions, including Children's National.
