Dear Friends and Advocates,

The first three months of 2024 have been busy at DCADV! We are engaged in training events, advocacy, and prevention collaborations!

DV101, a two-day training for Domestic Violence Advocates and service providers was presented in February. DCADV is also planning a two-day conference for the DV advocacy community to be held in May.

DCADV’s advocacy is focused on increasing state funding for DV services. The Coalition is collaborating with member programs, DV services providers, and community partners to share information with state legislators about the pressing need to increase state funds for critical DV services. All of you can join us in this effort! To help make a difference, consider signing up for the LEAP list to be notified about upcoming advocacy efforts.

DCADV continues to collaborate with member programs in advancing primary prevention strategies. These efforts aim at the root causes of domestic violence by promoting healthy teen relationships and addressing family financial security and by advancing economic justice policies.

February is Black History month and March is Women’s History month. Both months are opportunities to remember and highlight the many courageous individuals who engaged in work that advanced civil rights and protections. This historical courage continues forward in our movement to end and prevent domestic violence. Delaware’s DV advocacy community is strengthened and empowered by the work of Black advocates, Women, and all of our partners who share a vision of peace and work daily to make others feel heard, connected, safe!

DCADV engages in its land acknowledgement to note both the historical and current strength of the Lenape and Nanticoke People, to advance equity, and to highlight the importance of working in collaboration with our Tribal partners to end and prevent domestic violence.

DCADV developed its Land Acknowledgment Statement after receiving training from the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) and after consultation with the Nanticoke Indian Association Leadership Team.

We'd love to have you join us as a member! We can't do the work with you. From trainings to advocacy to supporting victims and survivors, we rely on support from the community.

A successful campaign to benefit DCADV's task forces!

THANK YOU! Together we raised $1190 for the WEAVER and the Women of Color task forces! DCADV's task forces are here to offer support to survivors, provide awareness and outreach of services, educate the general public, and advocate for policies that are important here in Delaware.
