Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
As the semester winds down and we approach finals, I'd like to provide some commencement logistical details regarding transportation, volunteering to serve as a marshal and ordering academic attire.
For faculty, administrators and staff who need transportation to the Baccalaureate Commencement Ceremony at the Prudential Center on Monday, May 18, 2026, bus service from campus will be provided with prior registration. You will be asked to check-in upon arrival to the Recreation Center prior to boarding and present the confirmation email received upon registration.
If you are working as an academic marshal and do not wish to drive to the Prudential Center, your shuttle will leave Seton Hall from the Recreation Center at 6:15 a.m. sharp. If you are not working as a marshal, the bus will leave the Recreation Center at 7 a.m. sharp.
Faculty members planning to attend Commencement can order academic regalia or volunteer to serve as a marshal through the University Portal using the Commencement Attire and Marshal Sign-Up card: Order Attire/Volunteer. The deadline for completing the information is Monday, May 11, 2026. There is no charge to rent the attire, and distribution will take place in Bayley Hall. You will be contacted by the Office of the Registrar once your attire is ready for pick-up.

Reminder: Compliance Workshop
Thursday, April 23, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Walsh Library, Silent Study Room
Are you seeking grants and need to know more about compliance? Visit in person with Norma Rubio and Maria Alonso from the Office of Grants and Research during the 2026 Petersheim Academic Exposition. Compliance in research projects is critical to ensure ethical standards, participant safety, data integrity and adherence to legal regulations (federal, state, and institution). It protects against legal liability, funding loss, and severe damage to the researcher/institutional reputation. Proper compliance ensures that research is valid, safe and trustworthy.

Call for Academies and Idea Hall Applications
The call for applications is now open for the Academies and Idea Hall initiatives. These programs provide seed funding to support innovative, high-impact projects that advance our academic mission and strengthen the student experience.
-
The Academies support initiatives within Academic Affairs, including projects that advance research, scholarship, interdisciplinary or international program development, mission-related programming, and other creative work.
-
The Idea Hall mechanism is open to all divisions, with a focus on projects that create or enhance student experiences and ultimately contribute to retention through collaborative projects between academic and non-academic divisions.
Consider how your ideas might benefit from these opportunities. Additional information and application details are available on the Innovation in Action page or contact Sona Patel at innovation@shu.edu if you have any questions or would like to consult about your application.
