University of Oregon
Dear Student,
The 2020 ASUO General Election will began on DuckWeb this morning at 9:00 a.m. and conclude on Friday, April 10, at 4:00 p.m. The ASUO elections provide an opportunity for all students to participate in the selection of the university’s student leaders for the upcoming 2020-2021 academic year. Widespread student participation in the ASUO elections is vital in promoting effective democracy, diverse thought, active leadership, and a strong campus community. We encourage you to vote for the following reasons:
  1. Voting is your right. If you are currently enrolled and paying the Incidental Fee, you are eligible to vote in the 2020 ASUO elections.
  2. Your vote matters and every vote counts. ASUO elections have historically been narrowly won and highly contentious. Your singular vote has a direct impact on who may be elected.
  3. You are represented by elected student leaders. Students who are elected in the ASUO elections develop a vision for leading the campus toward change, model and shift the campus climate, and represent diverse student interests in their daily work. ASUO leaders also coordinate, guide, and provide support for campus-wide events and programs made possible by the Incidental Fee.
  4. Your vote helps to create ASUO policy. The ballot this year contains several measures that, if passed, would impart massive change within ASUO structure. Amendments to the ASUO Constitution shape policies which influence the way student governance operates.
To encourage informed voting and student engagement, the ASUO Elections Board has compiled campaign information on every student running for office. This information can be found in the Voter Guide. Also located within the Voter Guide is a Candidate “Debate”. You may cast your vote by logging into Duckweb and selecting the link to the ASUO elections.

Warmest,
