February 2022, celebration edition

Hi SF.gov publishers,

We hope you had a fun Lunar New Year, or Superbowl, or Valentine's Day, or amazing warm weather this past weekend, whatever your flavor of February celebration.

Starting from this edition, we'll be sending a newsletter every 2 weeks. Hooray! The mid-month email will feature wins from our department partners. Our end-of-the-month email will contain new features we've launched for that month.

And for every version, we'll have a small tip for you as you work on SF.gov. Thank you for being fantastic partners, getting services and information to all San Franciscans.

NEW FEATURES

What's new for publishers

Reusable resources site-wide

We said that we wouldn't have new features in mid-month newsletters, but this one's really cool! You can now add reusable tiles to resource sections in the following content types:

Campaigns
Departments
Resource collections
Topics
About
Public bodies

Reusable resources means you don't need to write a title or description every time you want to use it! We'll also have consistency in how this content appears throughout SF.gov. We'll need some time to clean up duplicate resources, but this is a big first step!

Latest launches

Here are some departments making waves this month!

DPH redirected their homepage to SF.gov

It's official! SFDPH.org now redirects to SF.gov/dph. There are still many pages to go, but this is a huge first step for such a large department!

Treasure Island Development Authority is live

TIDA is the first department to moved entirely to SF.gov, even redirecting all of their old pages. Amazing! Check out their department homepage and how they've used various content types throughout.

Office of Small Business is live

Hot off the presses, in only a month! Take a look at OSB's new homepage and public body page!

Digital Services is (finally) on SF.gov too

We figured it was about time that we walked our talk, and make it easier to edit our own site! Check us out!

Tips for publishing

Prevent duplicate content by using filters

Having multiple pages with the same content severely damages the site's ranking in search engine results! Make sure nobody else has published the same content by using search and filters.

Depending on the tab, you can search by page title, or filter by content type, published status, author, and department.

Training and support

Sign up for training to get the meeting invitations and to get a publishing account. Anyone who works for the City is welcome!

Public Body and Meetings - Thursday, March 3, 11 am to 12 pm (not regularly scheduled, so sign up now!)
Publishing on SF.gov (the basics) - First and third Wednesday, 11 am to 12 pm
Introduction to SF.gov - Second Wednesday, 11 am to 12 pm
Writing for SF.gov - Fourth Wednesday, 11 am to 12 pm
