With the retirement of Sandy Piotter, we are looking for a volunteer Executive Director to help take Friends in Sonoma Helping (FISH) into the future. We've been serving Sonoma Valley as a volunteer-based organization for 55 years, providing many impactful programs. If you have nonprofit management experience and a heart for community service, we’d love to hear from you.

Is it a big job? Indeed it is, but with big rewards. You will have the opportunity to help advance our vision of Sonoma Valley as a community of "neighbors helping neighbors", where everyone's basic needs are met.

This is a 30-hour-per-week volunteer position. You will work closely with the team of dedicated and experienced volunteers who serve as FISH program coordinators and with the Board of Directors, which governs the organization. You will be supported by an administrative assistant.

About the Role:

The Executive Director is the leader of FISH. You will turn Board policy and strategic direction into day-to-day operations, and serve as the key link between the Board, volunteers, staff, clients, and the wider community. You will honor the history and culture of FISH, carry out its mission, and uphold the Core Values established in 2021.

What We’re Looking For:

•       Nonprofit management experience

•       Experience supporting a Board of Directors

•       The ability to engage, guide, and motivate volunteers with respect and skill

•       Successful experience working closely with other organizations

•       Excellent communication and listening skills

•       Strong organizational, financial, and technology skills

Preferred:

•       A college degree

•       Bilingual in Spanish

•       Prior involvement with FISH or a similar community organization
