Go Green & Volunteer

There are many ways to activate your green thumb and volunteering at UBC Botanical Garden is one of them!

You can get involved by becoming a garden greeter, event ambassador or assisting with education tours and workshops. Our Sustainability and Community Programs offer different ways to get involved, meet others and learn new skills. If you don’t see a position that suits you but you’d like to volunteer please reach out.

We provide monthly training and host special tours with our knowledgeable curators. No prior experience required.

Shop in the Garden & Garden Centre

The Shop now has an excellent selection of houses for Blue Orchard Mason Bees, the super-efficient pollinators which can be attracted with these man-made houses. Further information is also available at the Shop with Dr. Margriet Dogterom's excellent guide “Pollination with Mason Bees : A Gardener and Naturalists’ Guide to Managing Mason Bees for Fruit Production.”

Visit our website for more information on our shop.

Become a Member

The best way to enjoy everything the gardens at UBC have to offer is through a membership, which includes admission to both UBC Botanical Garden and Nitobe Memorial Garden.

Membership is an investment in your community and a valuable way of supporting the future of the gardens.
We've just revamped our membership program and have great new benefits to offer. Visit our website for more details.

April in the Garden
We're well on the way to one of the warmest springs in recent memory. A number of plants flowered three to four weeks early and many familiar April-blooming plants long since put out their flowers (what a February and March!). But there are plenty of plants sitting tight, waiting to flower as they normally would—or at least within only a week or two of their usual time. On this list of conservative bloomers are many in the genus Rhododendron. We can expect a lot in April from this group, and with around four hundred and fifty different rhodos in the Garden, that's a pretty impressive group.
