Welcome      Grow       Serve      Celebrate

A Word of Thanks
From Our Bishop Sharma Lewis:

I am grateful for all the ways you serve the Kingdom of God, and I want to show my appreciation for your resilience as you remain committed to the mission and ministry of The United Methodist Church. Click on the link to watch my message of gratitude and excitement for our future.

Join us for a PHUMC family Thanksgiving fellowship meal this Sunday, at 6 pm in the Worship Center. The church will provide the turkey and dressing. You bring one (or two!) sides and/or dessert to share. We will also need a few hands after Worship on Sunday to aid us with table setup. This is always a great time of fellowship and good food and we hope to see you there. No reservation needed. The choir will meet before, at 4:45 in the choir room.
As we move into the season of giving thanks, it is easy to name the wisdom we glean from scripture. People of faith are called into a life of gratitude. Inspired by words from one of our own departed saints, Ann Weissenborn, I offer you a challenge as you go about your days. Can you name one thing each day for which you are grateful? Can you name more than one? Will you remain open to see the little, sometimes hidden blessings and name those as well? If you feel so led, grab a journal and start recording so you can easily see all the ways God shows up with gifts in our days. This Sunday we will continue our reflection on gratitude in worship and we invite our church family, as you enter for worship or as you depart worship to serve, write those things for which you give thanks on one of the two pumpkins. When we join together for our Thanksgiving meal, we will lift our prayer of thanks over all the things which we have named. I hope to see you in worship as we give thanks!

Thanksgiving Office Hours

The church office will close at noon next Wednesday, Nov. 22 and reopen at 8:30 am on Monday, Nov. 27. Happy Thanksgiving!
Two unfinished needlework cushion covers were left in the donation bin for the Yarn Ministry. The beautiful floral pieces on black backgrounds have been nearly finished and were left with the black wool yarn needed to complete the set. We would love for someone to be able to enjoy these pieces, rather than leave them unfinished. If anyone is interested in taking these pieces to finish and enjoy for themselves, please contact Shelley Powers.
Saturday Morning's ladies brunch group met in person rather than by the usual Zoom. The Henderson family hosted, with chef Matt cooking and Hunter serving as barista. If you want to join us on Zoom at 10:00 on Saturdays, contact Monique Henderson for more information.
Music Practice update: Our children have begun practicing on Sundays at 9:30 am for the Advent Season. Children can be dropped off in the Garden Room for practice. Children in Pre K3 - 1st grade will practice singing a song that will be performed on Dec. 3, while children in grades 2nd - 4th grade will practice handbells, which will be performed on Dec. 10. We have moved our children-led Christmas Service with speaking parts to Dec. 10, and the Pre K – 1st grade will sing a Christmas special on Dec. 3.

Sunday School Volunteers:
We are in need of Sunday School teachers this Sunday as we finish up our unit on Faith stories of the Old Testament. There are three Sunday School classes from PreK - 4th grade; click here to sign up to teach. We need volunteers for our 1st grade and 2nd - 4th grade classes.  All volunteers must have a background check before volunteering in Children's Ministry.
Update your child's contact form today: Click the link to complete your child's contact form. This form is for all participants in the Children's and Bridge Ministries.

We want to hear from you!
If you are a parent or a committed volunteer in our Children's and Bridge Ministries, we would love your feedback. Our hope is that we continue to grow in our ministries with creative and new ideas. Please share your feedback with us today by clicking the link and sharing your ideas.
