Thank you!

Wow. "Thank you" doesn't begin to cover it. This past month has been one to remember for a long, long time. A full month of worship and Bible study, along with returns to larger events like off campus retreats and the Fall Fest, would be memorable enough after the last year and a half. But the love, support, and generosity y'all have expressed to Elizabeth and I on our marriage means so very much to us. And no, I had no idea about the surprise brunch thanks to Elizabeth who had to work extra hard to keep me from coming up to campus over the weekend. I'll never forget the last few weeks. This season of giving thanks starts out with my gratitude for this place, these people, and what y'all mean to me.

Help! My Bible is Alive!

We've had a great semester working on our biblical literacy, and our students have asked to go deeper! Specifically, they asked for something they can read at home to aid their own devotional reading and spiritual formation. To fulfill this request we'll be purchasing Nicole Unice's Help! My Bible is Alive! and offering it at a subsidized cost of $5. This is a helpful resource formatted as a 30-day challenge to get better acquanted with how to read and digest Scripture using methods which line up with what we've been doing together on Sunday mornings and Sunday nights. If your student would like a copy, send them to church with $5 or you can pay via our online giving system.

Winter Retreat!

Geoff's very first event on staff with PHUMC was the Winter Retreat at Camp Wesley Pines, so we're thrilled to announce we're headed back This year's event is a two-nighter on January 15-17 to take advantage of the MLK school holiday. The cost is $150 and includes meals at the camp. If you need to spread that out, a $50 deposit will secure your student's spot, and we'll be opening up that line on our giving system tomorrow, Monday the 8th. Registration deadline is December 30. Parents, we're looking for drivers/chaperones, so let Geoff know if you can help.

Sunday
9:30-10:30am: Sunday School
10:45: Churchwide worship (this service is recorded/broadcast via the PHUMC Facebook page)
Sunday PM: Engage, our weekly chance to go beyond what can happen in the Sunday school hour, whether its fellowship, taking Bible study to the next level, service, and fun on or off campus. 5:30-7pm with dinner included unless otherwise noted.

Special Events

November 14: Youth Thanksgiving; We love when students have ideas for events and request time together, so we're excited about this time to hang out, eat, and express gratitude for contributions to the kitchen fundraiser earlier this year.

December 17-18: Christmas Lock-in; Another example of a student dream becoming a reality, we're planning a lock-in to celebrate the end of school for winter break and the arrival of Christmas. We'll be ending with breakfast together (it is Christmas, after all), so we'll need volunteers for the event as well as folks to bring food. Final details TBA.

Everything AND the Kitchen Sink

After several months of using the joke headline above, there actually is a kitchen sink! And a microwave, range/oven, cabinet doors, etc. We're in the home stretch now. Make sure to come get a sneak peak when coming and going from youth events or Sunday School.
