Fighting Irish play in national championship on Monday

Notre Dame will face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff National Championship game Monday, January 20, in Atlanta. The Fighting Irish defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions in a 27–24 thriller at the Orange Bowl in Miami.

Beloved Community Gatherings set to break down barriers, build bridges 

The inaugural Beloved Community Gathering will be held Wednesday, January 29, as part of Walk the Walk Week. Registration is open for the event, which will feature a welcome from Executive Vice President Shannon Cullinan and a keynote by Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, a spiritual writer, preacher, and community-cultivator.

According to a forthcoming study from Alfonso Pedraza-Martinez, the Greg and Patty Fox Collegiate Professor of IT, Analytics, and Operations at Mendoza, simple tweaks to social media messaging can make a huge difference in getting people to take safety mandates seriously.

Using robots in nursing homes linked to higher employee retention, better patient care

A new study led by Yong Suk Lee, associate professor of technology, economy, and global affairs at the Keough School, finds that robot use in nursing homes is associated with increased employment and employee retention, improved productivity, and a higher quality of care.

Cleanup of St. Mary’s Lake trail to start next week

Tree and shrub cleanup around St. Mary’s Lake is set to begin Tuesday, January 21, and last for several weeks as crews work to further improve the trail around the lake.
