Christmas Time Is Here

If the musical piece featured in A Charlie Brown Christmas isn't playing in your head immediately, you're probably doing something wrong. I always enjoy this time of year, so I'm especially excited to walk through Advent and Christmas at Parkway Hills for the first time since we resumed in-person activities. We have some wonderful churchwide times to gather which I hope youth will attend, and there's a lot going on for our youth group specifically. Take a look to see how our students will be fellowshipping, worshipping, and serving together this season.

Special Events

December 12: Cookie Delivery and Dinner Out; The entire church is invited to sing carols and enjoy cocoa together at 4:30pm; immediately after youth will head out to deliver cookies to spread Christmas cheer and then go out to eat together at Papito's. Students should bring money for food. Notes: we'll make some of the treats together in Sunday School that morning. Also, we anticipate wrapping up between 7 and 7:30; we'll send a Remind message when we get our checks at the restaurant.

December 17-18, 6pm-9:30am: Christmas Lock-in; Another example of a student dream becoming a reality, we're planning a lock-in to celebrate the end of school for winter break and the arrival of Christmas. We'll close with breakfast together on Saturday the 18th.

Winter Retreat!

Geoff's very first event on staff with PHUMC was the Winter Retreat at Camp Wesley Pines, so we're thrilled to announce we're headed back. This year's event is a two-nighter on January 15-17 to take advantage of the MLK school holiday. The cost is $150 and includes meals at the camp. Registration deadline is December 30. Parents, we're looking for drivers/chaperones, so let Geoff know if you can help.

Help! My Bible is Alive!

We've had a great semester working on our biblical literacy, and our students have asked to go deeper! Specifically, they asked for something they can read at home to aid their own devotional reading and spiritual formation. To fulfill this request we'll be purchasing Nicole Unice's Help! My Bible is Alive! and offering it at a subsidized cost of $5. This is a helpful resource formatted as a 30-day challenge to get better acquanted with how to read and digest Scripture using methods which line up with what we've been doing together on Sunday mornings and Sunday nights. If your student would like a copy, send them to church with $5 or you can pay via our online giving system. After the ubiqutous shipping issues, these are now available for distribution!

Everything AND the Kitchen Sink

This headline has been a regular occurance in the monthly newsletter, but no more! This past Sunday we welcomed the PHUMC family to attend a blessing of this new space. Thank you again to everyone who made this possible, and we can't wait to put it to use making Christmas treats this coming Sunday.
