On June 13th we celebrated the expansion of the Lakewood Family YMCA Gymnastics Center with a ribbon cutting complete with community residents and dignitaries.  Lakewood Family YMCA Gymnastics has been an important part of strengthening local youth for the past 35 years. Not surprising, some of our original gymnasts  from 1985 are now parents whose children are currently benefitting from the new facility. Serving more than 1,000 youth a year, this program is a bedrock of movement education for the Lakewood community. 

A special thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, Dr. Mike and Arline Walter, as well as our Master of Ceremonies, Henry Walker, for our best attended Good Friday Breakfast to date.  Jim McDonnell, former Los Angeles County Sheriff spoke of his dedication to his convictions and how his personal faith helped him to overcome adversity in difficult times. We are honored and proud that the Good Friday Breakfast has become a focal point for community leaders in Long Beach 
on this reverent day.
