Introducing STEM Tales!


The STAR Library Network is pleased to announce a new project partnership with Twin Cities PBS (TPT). "STEM Tales" is designed to engage children, ages 4-8, and their families through a new children’s media series and aligned library programs across the nation. The series will include diverse STEM professionals including astronauts, scientists and engineers reading STEM picture books from space, Earth and sea. The project will be made possible by funding from the National Science Foundation.

STEAM Strategies: Addressing Space Science Confusion

Libraries may need to prepare to address fundamental concepts while conducting space science STEAM activities. Learn some strategies for demonstrating and sharing ideas through resources, activities, and discussion. This STEAM Strategies video has resources and tips on how to engage and inform patrons around common space science confusions.

The STAR Library Network (STAR Net) is a hands-on learning network for libraries and their communities across the country. STAR Net focuses on helping library professionals build their STEM skills by providing “science-technology activities and resources” (STAR) and training to use those resources.
STAR Net is built upon a strong network of collaborators and partners, led by the Space Science Institute’s (SSI) National Center for Interactive Learning (NCIL). Partners include the American Library Association’s Public Programs Office, Collaborative Summer Library Program, Chief Officers of State Library Agencies, Lunar and Planetary Institute, Education Development Center, Twin Cities PBS (TPT), Institute for Learning Innovation (ILI), University of Colorado. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation, and the NASA Science Mission Directorate.
