LVCA welcomes new board members

Meet Our New Board Members!

Literacy Volunteers is excited to announce four new board members! Each individual brings a wealth of experience, and we are so grateful to have them serve on our board.
We are especially excited that two Literacy Volunteers students, Esra and Guillermo, have agreed to sit on the board! As Executive Director Ellen M. Osborne notes, we are honored "to be hearing their perspectives. We appreciate having their time and input to make LVCA a stronger service organization."
We are so thankful for all of our board members as they help guide the organization. Please help welcome them all! You can learn a bit more about each of them below:

Peter Drake:

Guillermo Martinez Lopez:

Dino's Helps Make Training Delicious!

Literacy Volunteers extends a huge thank you to Dino's Wood-fired Pizza and Grill for donating food for January's tutor training. This donation was especially sweet because Dino is a former LVCA student! We are so incredibly proud of the success of our students, and we are thankful to receive this donation. As we know, delicious pizza, especially from Dino's, makes a day of tutor training pass a little more quickly. You can visit Dino's at the Dairy Market or Pro Re Nata.

LVCA in the Community

Literacy Volunteers is excited to share that volunteer-extraordinaire Nancy Cohen has once again been recognized for her service not just to Literacy Volunteers, but to the greater Charlottesville community. Serve Virginia has listed Nancy on their Serve Virginia Honor Roll. You can read about it here. Thank you, Nancy, for all that you do!
Communications Coordinator Rebecca Thomas is in the inaugural cohort for the Digital Resilience in the American Workforce initiative, a program that supports instructors and organizations in utilizing technology for adult learners. She spent part of January at the DRAW kickoff event in Washington, DC. You can read more about the initiative here.
