Rachel Quintas is Brown County’s new Community Gardens Coordinator, overseeing the 27 year-long program and working with the community to provide food security throughout Brown County. The Community Gardens, which are 13 and counting, help individuals and families grow accessible, organic, and culturally appropriate foods by working with local landowners and city officials to provide green space where sustainable gardens can be created.
Prior to her Coordinator position, Rachel was the assistant within the Community Gardens Program, and has spent the past five years traveling, working, and studying with the Worldwide Organization of Organic Farming. Her passions are rooted in herbalism, regenerative agriculture, sustainability, environmental education, learning about Wisconsin’s indigenous people’s history and practicing land reciprocity within her work, and personal life.
To connect with Rachel, and/or if you have interest in joining the Community Gardens Program, please contact her via email: Rachel.Quintas@browncountywi.gov or call 920-391-4660.

Specific topics covered included the intentional shift towards cross-cutting health priorities grounded in the social determinants of health and health equity.

| Brown County Community Gardens Prepare for Garden Close |
As the 2023 Garden Season comes to an end, Brown County Community Gardens prepare for Garden Close.
We would like to thank all those who donated their time and talents to another successful growing season. Al of A G Excavating, Inc. graciously donated and installed permanent water tanks at three locations. Brian of Schroeder's Flowers used his own truck and water to fill 1000+ gallon water tanks. Dan D. removed old beds from the Veteran's Garden to make space for newer, better beds. These are just a few examples of the amazing people who contribute to the Community Gardens.
Here's to garden close, see you next year!
