Robert A. Ramirez, DO, FACP, medical oncologist, has clinical and research interests in neuroendocrine tumors of the lung including DIPNECH, typical and atypical carcinoids, as well as lung cancer, specifically non-small cell and small cell cancers. He joined the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center earlier in 2021 after practicing for many years at Ochsner Medical Center and Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Science Center in New Orleans.
Dr. Ramirez is a highly specialized and nationally known oncologist who has focused on thoracic cancers and neuroendocrine tumors. His research on NETs has been published in numerous medical journals. He is member of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, serving on its Communications Committee, and the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society, having served on its Nominating Committee as well as its Scientific Review and Research Committee, and was recently elected to the NANETS Board of Directors.
