MS RIVER 2 Inverness Staff Educates
Elders on Sodas and Energy Drinks
|
The Mississippi RIVER 2 Inverness staff raised awareness about the harmful effects of drinking soda and energy drinks at the Serenity Adult Daycare in Shelby on Tuesday, September 6th. Patrons learned that drinking soda (and the sugar it contains) and energy drinks could contribute to cavities, obesity, and osteoporosis. They learned prevention tips such as reducing sugar and the amount of soda, energy drinks, and “fruit drinks” they consume in exchange for healthier options like water and low-fat milk. The patrons were also encouraged to continue to practice safety precautions during the pandemic (i.e., keeping hands washed and sanitized, wearing masks, and practicing social distancing).
